Job Description
Coho Technology Solutions is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious High Voltage Electrician to support electrical infrastructure projects and operations for U.S. Navy installations. The ideal candidate will be experienced in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium to high voltage electrical distribution systems and related equipment. This role includes working with cathodic protection systems, power generators (gas and diesel), transformers, and airfield lighting systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain medium voltage (1kV-35kV) systems and, where applicable, 69kV Navy systems.
Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of electrical components including underground cable systems, switches (oil, SF6, air), transformers, ground grid systems, and fuses.
Troubleshoot electrical issues using specialized tools: multimeters, meggers, ammeters, cable locators, fault finders, high-potential test equipment, etc.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E standards, and PPE requirements. No live (hot) work is permitted without prior written authorization.
Respond to electrical service calls and emergencies, ensuring systems remain operational.
Maintain and repair airfield lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lights, beacons, current regulators, optical landing systems, and control systems.
Pull and install underground cables, splice and terminate cables using appropriate kits and sealing methods.
Inspect and maintain transformers and perform oil sampling for analysis.
Operate commercial vehicles (Class B CDL required), bucket trucks, and pole auger trucks.
Perform ground testing, vault inspections, manhole maintenance, and bonding repairs.
Review and verify contractor work complies with NEC, OSHA, and Navy contract specifications.
Maintain street lighting systems and traffic signal controls.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years' experience in high/medium voltage electrical work.
Proven knowledge of:
Electrical theory, circuit analysis, and system operations
Industrial electrical installation and troubleshooting
Cable splicing, jointing, and insulation methods
Safe work practices around energized systems and confined spaces
Proficient in using hand and power tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers, soldering tools, hydraulic benders).
Ability to interpret and work from technical documentation.
Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Completion of the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Course within 45 days of employment (or current certification).
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to work in environments exposed to high temperatures, noise, rotating machinery, soot, chemicals, oil, and fumes.
Physically capable of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 40 lbs independently, and over 40 lbs with assistance.

NHT owns and operates Washington View Apartments located at 2629 Douglass Road SE. As part of our commitment to residents, NHT is working with Building Bridges Across the River and the Collaboration for Equitable Health to launch a multi-year project to address the social determinants of health East of the River. The project is called ViewStrong.
ViewStrong, power by the Interrupt is excited to bring a food pantry to Washington View. The food pantry is located across from the community laundry facility and is open to all residents. The food pantry will maintain a stock of groceries at no cost to residents.
POSITION
We are seeking a Washington View resident to serve as a Food Pantry Youth Apprentice. This is a contract position that will begin in April. The Food Pantry Youth Apprentice will assist the Food Pantry Coordinator in the operations of our small community food pantry and will work closely with staff from NHT, Building Bridges Across the River, Black Nurses Rock, and So What Else. This position will be contracted by NHT.
This position is DC-based. Due to the nature of the work, this position offers no remote work options. This position requires approximately 11 hours weekly, including all distribution days and preparation time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage inventory
Schedule and supervise volunteers during operating hours
Coordinate with NHT on food deliveries and restocking
Maintain pantry organization and cleanliness standards
Process client intake and maintain confidential records

Key Job Functions

Qualifications
Electricians shall possess a minimum of a Journeyman's card for at least 5 years of recent (within the past 7 years) experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment and systems comparable in a critical environment.
Electricians shall possess all required registrations, certifications, and licenses required by State and local jurisdictions.
Must provide a satisfactory means for contact after normal working hours.
Must be able to lift/move heavy objects (50 pounds), climb vertical ladders, work at heights (50 feet), operate forklifts and other lifts distinguish colors and be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools.
Shall demonstrate a good working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, and electrical skills.
Good spoken and written communication skills.
Requires occasional work at all customer facilities in the Washington DC area.
Shall be available to work overtime for special projects or events and shall be available on an emergency basis.

National Housing Trust (NHT) has been dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing for almost 40 years. We build, preserve, and finance affordable housing and use that expertise to inform and advance resident-focused solutions to strengthen the broader affordable housing industry.
NHT owns and operates Washington View Apartments located at 2629 Douglass Road SE. As part of our commitment to residents, NHT is working with Building Bridges Across the River and the Collaboration for Equitable Health to launch a multi-year project to address the social determinants of health East of the River. The project is called ViewStrong.
ViewStrong, power by the Interrupt is excited to bring a community garden to Washington View. The garden will consist of 16 garden beds that will produce fresh vegetables for Washington View residents at no cost.
POSITION
We are seeking a Washington View resident to serve as a Youth Apprentice to tend a new set of garden beds on the Washington View campus. This is seasonal positions that begins April 26th, 2025 and ends October 26th, 2025. The Youth Apprentice will be hired by National Housing Trust and will receive training and instruction from the Farm Team at Building Bridges Across the River. The Youth Apprentice will be mentored by the Lead Gardener. We encourage any Washington View resident between ages 15-20 who has an interest in growing food to apply.
This position is DC-based. Due to the nature of the work, this position offers no remote work options. On average, this position will offer 11 hours of work weekly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Water the garden beds as frequently as needed, 2-6 times per week depending on rain, an average of five hours per week.
Remove grass and other weeds as they emerge, approximately two hours per week.
Harvest crops as they become mature and bring them to the pantry to wash, weigh and store, approximately two hours weekly.
Work with Building Bridges Across the River staff one hour per week on planting and garden maintenance. We will choose an hour within the work week (Mon - Fri, between 8:00am and 5:00pm) based on the schedule of the two Gardeners. Candidates should have at least one hour weekly within that time frame when both can schedule to work with the Building Bridges Across the River staff.
Candidates must be comfortable with the following:
Carrying a 20-pound garden hose;
Stooping, kneeling and standing for an hour while weeding and harvesting;
Reading a scale and recording harvest weights;
Visiting the garden at least every other day to make sure the soil is moist; and
Taking instruction from staff of Building Bridges Across the River, WC Smith and National Housing Trust, regarding how to conduct the work and store the supplies;
Youth Apprentice should be a student, at least 15 years old.
COMPENSATION
This apprenticeship will be paid $22.50 per hour.
