* Alternating between working in the field with line crews and working and studying at a training center, acquires experience and receives instructions and training on the following types of subjects and activities: FIRST YEAR IF APPRENTICESHIP Receives training in the inspection, care, and use of tools of the trade; work clothing;behavior on the crew; identifying poles and stubs and climbing poles; installing crossarms, insulators, wire ties, armor rods, ground rods, tape, guys, anchors, conductors, services, pole steps, fuse carriers and fuses, lightning arresters, distribution and constant currrent transformers, bus bar service entrance protectors; handling and using reels and coiling wire; digging and backfilling techniques; pole handling, setting, pulling, straightening, lashing; electrical terms; identifying circuits; hand signals; truck driving, rescue and first aid work, etc. SECOND YEAR OF APPRENTICESHIP Continues to receive training and practice on subjects and activities already introduced, and in addition, learns phasing, jumpering, installing voltage regulators, care and use of cable cars, voltmeters, ammeters, portable potential transformer, homelite unit, pole top blocks, "meg" groundometer, truck-mounted ladders, time switches, temporary wire-down replacements, triple transformer mounting, general precautions regarding higher voltage lines, determining loads on ropes, block and tackle, loading and unloading poles with tackle, etc. THIRD YEAR OF APPRENTICESHIP Continue to receive training and practice on subjects and activities already introduced, and in addition, learns the proper sag and tension of conductors, two-pole transformer platforms, capacitors, balancing loads with low voltage services, disconnect lugs, portable disconnects, removing kites, luminaries, multiplex conductors, sectionalizing cutouts, contactors, tube arresters, operetors' records, protective tags, etc. FOURTH YEAR OF APPRENTICESHIP Coninues to receive training and practice (primarily on the job) on subjects and activities already introduced. Returns to the training center to receive additional training as needs indicate.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Physically able to lift and handle 90 pounds.
* Must obtain an evaluation of "Recommended' on the Construction Aptitude Skills Test (CAST). (Exception: if you have previously taken and passed the CAST test). A PRACTICE TEST CAN BE FOUND ON THE DTE WEBSITE @ WWW.DTEENERGY.COM.
* Satisfactorily complete the week of Pole Climbing Orientation.
* Must meet Company driving standards. Canadian citizens must obtain an Ontario Class A license with a Z endorsement for air brakes. Drivers with the Classified Endorsement Temporary Instruction Permit must obtain a Group A Commercial Drivers License as soon as they are certified by Employee Training.

Qualifications:

1st Shift Electrician
OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for focusing on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. At the direction of supervisor, assists with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to, electrical, refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, emergency backup systems and hot water systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
Assist with the installation and repair plumbing/piping/tubing; wire single and three phase motors (single & two speed); run conduit; pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.; Install and rebuild pumps and motors; install and rebuild air compressors; heat exchangers; replace bearings in all types of motors; replace seals on pumps; install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems and associated controls; assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment.
Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching and motor controls.
Monitor operation, repair, and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions.
Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED
2 years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and HVAC.
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Michigan State Electrical license
Valid Driver's License
HOURS
Must be flexible and willing to work varying shifts from time to time.

Journeyman Electrician
Journeyman Lineman Job 15 miles from Harper Woods
Under the direction of a supervisor this position inspects, tests, installs, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical circuits, appliances, systems, fixtures and related electrical controls and devices in compliance with all state and local electrical codes requirements. Acts as a liaison with external electrical service providers, ensures permits are obtained and work is performed in compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards. Performs other duties as required.
Essential Functions
Ensures all electrical installations meet all elements of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) as required by regulatory agencies (CMS, AOA, Joint Commission).
Responsible for all electrical equipment. Obtains permits and performs electrical work as required by law, and functions as a liaison with external licensed electrical contractors.
Regularly inspects and evaluates electrical equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely, follows recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment and maintains records on equipment status and maintenance.
Evaluates and recommends cost saving measures and facility upgrades to include but not limited to high efficiency motors, electronic lighting, LED exit signs, etc.
Responds promptly to electrical trouble calls throughout BH, inspects and repairs varied electrical systems/equipment to include lights, power distribution, fan motors and the like.
Performs tests to ensure continuity of the circuit and compatibility and safety of all components using test equipment to locate malfunctions such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and the like.
Uses appropriate tools and other special equipment to measure, cut, bend, thread wire, assemble and install electrical conduits, junction switches, outlet boxes and switchboards.
Studies blueprints and schematics and determines methods, materials, personnel, and equipment needed to complete modification to the electrical system.
Must be eligible for overtime. Can work reasonable extended hours to accomplish priority repairs and to fill in for disaster, vacation, or illness coverage.
Follow ICRA/PCRA procedures outlined by Epidemiology.
Qualifications
Required
A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or graduation from a trade or vocational school.
A level of knowledge normally acquired through a 3-4-year electrical apprenticeship program
Minimum of 5 years journeyman experience
A demonstrated in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems and electrical devices such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors, and panel boards.
LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan
Preferred
Minor-welding skills
Experience in a hospital environment is desired.
