GENERAL FUNCTION: To demonstrate the skills necessary to construct and maintain the electric distribution system by providing high quality electric service to all customers. EDUCATION: High school graduate plus advanced trade knowledge equivalent to four years apprenticeship is required. Previous work experience as a lineman. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in construction and maintenance of electric utility system is preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess general knowledge of all operational aspects of electrical distribution and transmission systems and the ability to learn all aspects within a reasonable time span. The Apprentice Lineman position participates in a structured four-year apprenticeship program with the Electric Department. The apprentice is required to maintain at least 90% attendance at all scheduled weekly training classes and perform assigned work under the direct supervision of experienced linemen in a team-based environment. This position assists with electric utility operations while learning the proper use, care, and safety procedures for all department equipment.
