Maintenance/Custodial/Electrician Building Maintenance: Electrician position provides electrical and HVAC services to all school department buildings, specifically identifying repair and/or replacement needs and installing and/or upgrading electrical systems. The individual(s) shall be in compliance with accessibility and safety codes/regulations. Responsible for adding breakers to panels, adding dedicated lines to fixtures, troubleshooting school auditorium lighting, sound boards, bells, intercoms, school security systems (cameras, buzzers, etc.), and school building generators, etc. Responsible for the installation of power circuits for Air Conditioning units as directed Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the School Committee sound system Responsible for maintaining and adjusting all building maintenance systems as needed Responsible for meeting with contractors for upcoming projects, pricing, or review of issues related to equipment and fixtures. Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions. Maintains and transports tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure the availability of materials required at a job site. Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure the availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair. • Responds to emergencies during and after hours to resolve immediate electrical concerns. The role of KES Technician is to perform full installations of our Demand Control Kitchen Ventilation system (DCKV) in commercial kitchens. DCKV is the process of measuring the level of cooking activity in commercial kitchen hoods and modulating the speed of the associated exhaust and supply fans to be used only as needed. By adjusting these units, these commercial kitchens save a tremendous amount of energy in their electrical, heating, and cooling usage. The KES Technician is the company's direct representative and will be responsible for properly executing the installation of these systems ensuring complete system functionality at the end of the project. KES Technicians will work together in teams of two to accomplish these tasks on each jobsite. This work involves, but not limited to, the following scope of work: Installing various sensors directly to the kitchen hoods (drilling into stainless steel). Installing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to modulate the associated exhaust fans along with the proper power wiring (120V/1), (208V/3), (460V/3) as needed. Installing and wiring new fan motors as needed. Installing and wiring new exhaust fans as needed, and other associated low voltage wiring. The KES Technician will program and commission the DCKV system and train the customer on functionality and usage. Responsibilities This position is responsible for the installation of refrigeration systems following customer specifications, applicable building codes, and proper piping practices. Provide support on construction job by piping cooler boxes and refrigeration cases, including electrical wiring as required to complete the project. Provides the required installation of pipe hangers as directed by the foreman. Provide construction support by welding and slip-hosing copper pipes, and assist the foreman as needed on the job. Provide support by handing cooler box coils and installing new supermarket refrigeration systems or remodeling existing supermarket refrigeration systems. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes 5+ years of experience in the construction industry preferred and hands-on field experience in commercial refrigeration, electrical and/or fixtures construction EPA Certification (Type II) Experience in copper brazing, market remodeling Good driving record. Knowledge of electrical systems and ability to wire installations. Knowledge of carpentry. Knowledge of refrigeration systems and piping of refrigeration equipment. Knowledge of plumbing and pipe fittings, and ability to pipe refrigeration equipment. Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints on refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing. Ability to hang evaporation coils and install overhead hangers. Ability to use hand and power tools and good mechanical skills. Knowledge of job site safety, ability to oversee work activities to ensure safe work practices, and safety rule compliance. Ability to work with minimal supervision. What You're Bringing to the Table High School diploma or a GED Rhode Island State Electrical license required OSHA 30 certification (obtain within 6 months of employment) Strong understanding of NEC codes and NFPA codes Strong interpretation of general construction practices Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and electrical equipment and hand tools Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) Ability to work with a general contractor and other trades present on job Meets physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
