Essential Functions - On the job training for the following: Assists with routine maintenance of school and district buildings. Checks and secures building at the beginning and end of shift for the purpose of ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the building. Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of the building according to district standards. Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, sills, touchpoints. Maintain, clean, and sanitize restrooms. May fill soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and other dispensers. Mop or runs auto scrubber. Extracts/bonnets carpets. Assist with floor refinishing. Removes garbage. Maintains grounds which includes mowing and edging lawns, removing snow, ice, debris, weeding, raking, watering, sweeping, etc. May remove graffiti and repairs other acts of vandalism. Cleans up garbage. Repairs furniture, lockers, doors, and small equipment. Prepare and set up rooms for meetings and activities and cleans up afterwards. Helps maintain and operate mechanical systems. Assist locking and unlocking doors. Involved with security of building after hours. Turns on/off security and locks/unlocks the building. Attend all required apprenticeship classes and complete demonstrations and competency logs. Performs duties in a manner to maintain an 80% or higher VEKTR inspection. Frequent interruptions with daily work may occur. May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups of students. Must receive proper training from the head custodian when working with cleaning chemicals and must be handled properly. Summary/Objective An Apprentice 1 is a first year, first semester electrical apprentice who is enrolled in a qualified (CEF or IEC) electrical apprenticeship program and has 0-1000 hours of actual on-the-job experience. The purpose of the Audio Video Apprentice/Low Voltage Specialties is to assist in the installation of low voltage systems. Including, but not limited to, security, access control and audio/video systems. Assist Low Voltage Manager and or project lead with installation of conduit, low voltage wiring, control panels, and other low voltage system equipment. Keep tools available and in serviceable working condition on job site. Assist in cleaning job site, tools, and equipment. Carry equipment, such as ladders, tools and replacement parts from vehicle or laydown area to required location. Learn and develop working knowledge of various low voltage systems installation under various teaching practices. Study for and obtain various low voltage certifications as required by manufacturer, state, and local jurisdictions. Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures.
