The Lineworker Apprentice position is primarily responsible for developing the technical skills necessary to perform a variety of functions related to the construction, installation and maintenance of underground and overhead high and low voltage electric distribution systems. Work is varied in nature and incumbent applies basic knowledge of electricity to work performed. Incumbent works under immediate supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations. This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Lineworker College certificate program or the equivalent in related experience. Working Conditions Internal Little or no work is performed indoors. Incumbent participates in clearing the clutter in the stockroom, garage, general office space, work vehicles, other line areas or any other communal environment as needed. External Work is routinely performed where there is exposure to outside atmospheric conditions or extreme heat/cold or moisture and exposure to traffic while performing line work functions. Work is occasionally performed at heights exceeding 100 feet and around water, on uneven and slippery terrains in unsafe environments near rivers. Special Frequently work requires scheduled and unscheduled overtime and incumbent will be on call after hours and on weekends to respond to emergency calls regarding line maintenance/service restoration. Physical Demands Work involves standing and walking for most of the time, and occasionally requires working at heights exceeding 100 feet above ground. Work routinely includes pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 120 pounds, lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds above your head and working with objects at shoulder height such as tools, crossarms with pins, insulators and braces. The Traffic Control Apprentice is responsible for maintaining the flow of traffic around construction zones, maintenance projects, accidents, or other temporary traffic disruption areas. This role ensures the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians by maintaining proper traffic control and following all safety guidelines and regulations. As a Traffic Control Apprentice, you will be our front line for safety. In this role you will be responsible for the electrical troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on various systems throughout the facility as well as installation and modification of equipment on new projects. Duties include: Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on the machinery Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC issues on the machinery Emergency and general maintenance activities, including weekend and off-shift work Project installation activities as assigned by the Plant Manager Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays Ensure company safety procedures are being adhered to Regularly monitor & manage inventory levels for critical spare parts, and identify gaps Participate in all plant safety initiatives Prioritize and repair safety related issues as defined by the safety committee and/or STOP Card program Provide a regular report of safety related repairs and status to the Plant Manager Complete computer-based training on a monthly basis or when assigned Participate in the daily production meeting and provide an update of related activities to the team Participate in the weekly plant Wildly Important Goal (WIG) meeting and WIG related actions Compliance with all policies, procedures, and rules as established Effective communication skills to communicate issues and solutions to cross-functional stakeholders Consult/communicate regularly with all functional teams in the facility Must be able to read instructions, 1-line diagrams, ladder logic, manuals, and use meters, hand tools, and shop equipment Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Valid Vermont Journeyman License at a minimum; Masters preferred High school diploma Associate or bachelor's degree a plus Experience with HMI equipment preferred (company will provide training) Allen Bradley CompactLogix PLC experience preferred (company will provide training) Heavy industry experience with electrical systems and production equipment required Two or more years of experience in electrical maintenance required. Work will be all over Vermont. The Traffic Control Apprentice is responsible for maintaining the flow of traffic around construction zones, maintenance projects, accidents, or other temporary traffic disruption areas. This role ensures the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians by maintaining proper traffic control and following all safety guidelines and regulations. As a Traffic Control Apprentice, you will be our front line for safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using handheld signs, paddles, or flags Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control work zones including signs, barricades, and cones according to project requirements and regulations Communicate clearly with drivers to provide guidance and ensure safe traffic flow Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate and respond to potential safety hazards Coordinate with supervisors and other team members using hand signals, radios, or other communication equipment Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Warn workers when approaching vehicles fail to heed signals to prevent accidents and injuries Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment as needed Perform other work-related duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS: Being a Team Player. Understand and apply safe traffic control practices, sometimes in stressful situations. Ability to receive and communicate instructions clearly, firmly and courteously.
