The Sumner, WA paper mill has an opening for a Journey Mechanic. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. As a millwright, you will be responsible for repair and maintenance of mill equipment. Safety, quality, productivity and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture. This is a union mill.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
8hr workday/40hr work week normal. May be required to work after hours and weekends as needed.Perform preventative and predictive maintenance.Maintain good housekeeping in shop and work area.Be precision minded when performing rebuilds or conducting alignment operations.Report abnormal and unsafe conditions.Fill out work orders properly and on time.Support mill operations as needed.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Certified millwright be national standards (preferably in WA State) Lift 50 pounds Arrive to work on time with a strong attendance record High school diploma or GEDPrevious experience as a millwright.Experience driving forklift, Scissor lift, and/or articulation lift.Knowledge of OSHA/WISHA safety regulations such as Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, and the proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).Knowledge and experience in welding - all types
