SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining plumbing systems; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates related to plumbing; installing new plumbing; repairing existing plumbing fixtures; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous plumbing equipment. Repairs gas-fired appliances and piping.

Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Gas and hot and cold potable water-piping are included.
Studies building plans and blueprints to determine work areas for repair and installation of pipe.
Inspects structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided that would prevent weakening of structures resulting from the installation of pipe and the repairs of existing pipes.
Cuts and threads pipe to correct measurements; bends pipe.
Uses specialized and common tools.
Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipe composed of metals, plastic, and non-metals such as glass and vitrified clay.
Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, showers, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwasher, water softeners, hot air heaters, and backflow devices.
Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers, mending busted pipes, and opening clogged drains.
Cleans work area.
Responds to emergency situations, when requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Graduation from high school with a high school diploma or possess a GED;
