OVERVIEW:
The Start-Up / Service Technician Industrial role is responsible for ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, service, and start-up of industrial equipment and systems. This role requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
DUTIES: The duties and responsibilities of the Start-Up / Service Technician may include but is not limited to:
Install, commission, and start-up industrial equipment and systems according to specifications and safety standards.
Perform testing and validation of equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the start-up phase.
Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
Attend job site meetings to understand project scope, schedule, and resolve issues
Create internal commissioning documents, review project equipment submittals, and maintain ongoing deficiency logs.
Provide training and support to clients and end-users on equipment operation and maintenance.
Document start-up procedures, test results, and any modifications made during the process.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS: The following are required skills and qualifications:
Electrical and fabrication industry experience is preferred.
Associate degree or technical certification in industrial technology, engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of proven experience as a licensed Journeyman.
Proven experience in the installation and start-up of industrial equipment and systems.
Strong technical skills and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
Valid Drivers License
OSHA 30 required.
REQUIREMENTS: The following are physical requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials.
Must be able to do prolonged periods of sitting at desks, stooping, kneeling, bending
Occasional exposure to outside weather on job sites.
Ability to walk job sites for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to occasionally lift at least 35 lbs. solo and 50 lbs. in tandem lifts.

* Installs, removes, transfers, maintains and/or repairs cross arms, pins, insulators, transformer and switch racks and other overhead pole and Underground Residential Distribution equipment using a variety of hand tools, equipment and power tools.
* Installs and removes transformers, including primary and secondary current transformers and self-contained meters; cut-outs, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers and other overhead line.
* Performs line switching or sectionalizing as directed. Performs emergency repairs, phases and connects circuits under load; performs load checks and balances feeders as required.
* Inspects lines, poles and equipment for signs of damage or wear and reports deficiencies.
* Assists in carrying poles, digging holes, picking poles and other such operations involved in the setting or replacing of poles; may erect steel towers.
* Assists in on-the-job training of apprentices and other crew members in maintenance and construction of power lines.
* May troubleshoot electrical problems on company and customer equipment.
* Perform all physical requirements of the position including being able to lift 50 lbs.
* Works at heights greater than ten feet (example: in bucket or platform truck) to install equipment or connectors. Climbs ladders, poles, and towers on a daily or continuous basis as required.
* Operates boom, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment requiring a valid Texas CDL

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Successful completion of an Ironworker apprenticeship preferred
3+ years of Journeyman-level ironworking experience required
Industrial machine licenses (e.g., forklift) preferred
Must have experience with:
I-Beams
Operating aerial lifts
Pre-Fabricated metal building erection
Ironwork construction
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction or repair of buildings or industrial structures
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
Ability to visualize layouts by reading plans and prints
Ability to comprehend and troubleshoot mechanical systems
Must have OSHA 10 Construction Industry certification (current within last 5 years)
Must be able to pass a work physical and pre-employment drug screening
