Journeyman Machinist
What We Expect of You as a Journeyman Machinist
As a Journeyman Machinist, you'll apply your technical skill, precision, and craftsmanship to produce and repair critical components used in our packaging machinery. You'll work independently and collaboratively to set up and operate manual machines, fabricate and modify parts, and ensure the highest levels of quality and accuracy.
Your expertise in machining processes, materials, and measurements will help keep our production running smoothly and your professionalism and teamwork will help maintain the strong, supportive culture of our Machine Shop.
What You'll Do
Set up and operate a variety of manual machine tools, including Drill Presses, Bridgeport and Knee Mills, Metal Lathes, metal fabrication and sheet metal machinery, and related equipment.
Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools and components, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and machining procedures.
Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify part accuracy and adherence to tolerances.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components as needed.
Perform rework operations on nonconforming parts and support quality assurance initiatives.
Conduct routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety standards and PPE requirements.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman-level experience in machining, with strong hands-on ability using manual equipment.
Proven experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
Deep understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling.
Proficient in using a wide range of precision measurement instruments.
High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of safety standards and proper use of PPE (face-shield, gloves, etc.).
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
Proficient in English.
You're Skilled At
Working on your feet for extended periods of time.
Reading, writing, and comprehending written plans in English.
Reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints for metal part layouts.
Measuring accurately-understanding 32nds, 64ths, and metric dimensions.
Performing equipment preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
Conducting precise mathematical calculations, including converting fractions to decimals.
Maintaining high standards of safety, organization, and housekeeping.
Contributing actively to a collaborative team environment.
Being present on-site to complete hands-on production work.

Salary: $29.06 per hour + quarterly and annual bonus
Shift: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate conventional, CNC, and NC machines to fabricate or repair metal and non-metal parts
Perform layout, fitting, machining, and assembly work required for production and plant maintenance
Measure, mark, and scribe material using various precision measuring devices
Select and install fixtures, tools, and machine attachments for milling, lathe, grinding, and shaping operations
Inspect finished workpieces for accuracy using precision instruments (micrometres, gauges, etc.)
