The Journeyman Outside Wireman must have a current and active Journeyman Electrician License issued from the State of Utah. A valid reciprocal state journeyman license will be considered as proof of experience, but a Utah journeyman license must be obtained within 30 days of employment . electrical construction experience is required. Candidates must have a working knowledge of journeyman level math and be proficient in reading, and writing.


This full-time Journeyman Outside Wireman position receives a competitive salary commensurate with experience and position responsibilities. Major Duties:

The Journeyman Outside Wireman will Plan/Install new or modified electrical installations in high voltage lines, substations, and mining facilities, to include installation of electrical panels, underground wire and conduit, controls, instrumentation, and main distribution electrical systems . Installations must be consistent with specifications and local building and electrical codes. Have the ability to follow diagrams, schematics, and blueprints . Using proper electrical tools, the candidate must be proficient in measuring, cutting, bending, threading and assembly and electrical raceways . Perform various electrical testing such as meggering, hi-pot, grounding, continuity, amperage, ohm, and voltage measurements of electrical circuits to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components. Perform troubleshooting procedures by observing functionality of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement . Have the ability to perform “lock out-tag out” procedures enabling the ability to safely repair faulty electrical equipment or systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Utah Journeyman’s License
  • High school diploma or
  • Completion of a four-year certified apprenticeship program with an active Journeyman’s license.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and its
  • Knowledge of safety procedures associated with electrical
  • Knowledge of general industry safety
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local electrical
  • Knowledge of electrical construction and maintenance practices and

  • Skill in planning, designing, organizing, and executing electrical upgrade projects mandated by changing codes, regulations, and safety
  • Ability to work out of town.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems, devise, and carry out effective plans for repairing problems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information, listen to instructions and ask questions, as necessary.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and install control circuits and compute electrical
  • Ability to read, to understand, and to interpret electrical plans, complex circuit schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to perform assigned work independently with minimal
  • Ability to climb ladders, sufficient mobility to perform duties in small spaces by crouching, stooping, or kneeling and physical ability to perform tasks requiring strength and finger

General Purpose

17.5.4 A Station Wireman is a Journeyman who installs, repairs and maintains generating station, substation structures, equipment, apparatus and wiring.

A Station Wireman Journeyman has a working knowledge of substation equipment, apparatus, and wiring. They install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment which includes, but is not limited to transformers, regulators, load tap changers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, motor-operated and manual switches, bus work, wiring, battery banks and chargers, and substation structures. They operate substation equipment, including switching and grounding. They perform testing on substation apparatus such as power factor, transformer turns ratio, megger, ductor, battery load testing, oil sampling, and other analytical tests as assigned. They are expected to follow safety rules and company standards. They may work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, may work with bucket and boom trucks. They may work independently or with others, occasionally work long hours during emergency conditions, and be responsible for tools, test equipment, and vehicles

Requirements

* A high school diploma, GED or proof of equivalent.
* Has successfully completed a Journeyman Wireman or equivalent apprenticeship and experience.
* 4+ years experience in the Wireman trade.
* Proficient in all diagnostic testing, analysis of test results on equipment, apparatus and wiring.
* Good driving record.
* Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
* Must pass a pre-qualifying skills test.
