JSW Steel company history timeline
1982: Jindal Group sets up steel plant at Vasind near Mumbai.
That facility was set up in 1989 with a design capacity of 0.75 million tons of Sponge Iron (HBI).
1994: The JVSL plant was located at Toranagallu near Karnataka and therefore at the heart of India's high-grade iron ore belt.
In the year 2000 the company implemented a total integrated resource planning solution for their business process which was the first of its kind in India.
JSW group acquired the company and took over the Management from November 2004.
In 2005 JSWSL approved the merger of Euro Ikon Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd Euro Coke & Energy Pvt Ltd and JSW Power Ltd.
In March 28 2008 the company incorporated a 100% subsidiary namely JSW Building Systems Ltd to design make prepare develop create alter replace repair pre-fabricated building systems and technologies.
Since December 2009 the company has been selling the surplus power to MSEDCL. The state-of-the-art new Hot Strip Mill with a capacity of 5 MTPA is being implemented in two phases.
In December 2010 they commissioned the two of the four batteries (Battery A&B) of coke oven 4 (1.95 mtpa capacity) in at Vijayanagar works.
2010: JSW acquired its majority ownership stake in the Dolvi Works in 2010.
In January 2011 they acquired the assets of Integrated Steel Plant division of Bellary Steel & Alloys Ltd.
In October 2011 the company signed a joint venture agreement with Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc.
It also set up a plant at Salem with an annual capacity of 1 million tonne. It is on the threshold of a major expansion plan of adding 3.2 million tons per annum to its at Vijayanagar Plant to achieve 11 MTPA by 2011.
On 5 October 2013 JSW Steel executed a Business Transfer Agreement with Heidelberg Cement India Ltd. for the acquisition of its cement grinding facility at Raigad Maharashtra as a going concern on slump sale basis.
2013: Ties up with Japan's JFE in electrical steel JV.
Tokyo (MISI). The first phase of the project is expected to come on stream by FY 2014 with an installed capacity of 1.8 lakh tonnes per annum and will be scaled up to 3.6 lakh tonnes per annum in phase two.
Severstal bought Piombino-based Aferpi (then known as Lucchini SpA) from Severstal in 2014.
On 17 August 2016 JSW Steel announced that it has completed the acquisition of 74% shareholding of Praxair India Private Limited in JSW Praxair Oxygen Private Limited (JPOPL) for a cash consideration of Rs 240 crore.
On 26 March 2018 JSW Steel announced that its US subsidiary JSW Steel (US) Inc and the Office of Governor Texas USA have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to develop and augment the steel industry in Texas.
The EAF/Slab caster was started up in December of 2018 and thus began to offer melted and manufactured in the USA to it’s customer base.
2018: Invests $150m in first tranche for greenfield Texas plant.
2018: Buys 100% stake in Italy's Aferpi for Euro 55 million.
2018: Signs JV agreement with JFE for Indian auto steel production.
2019: NCLT approves JSW's takeover of bankrupt Bhushan Power.
2019: Announces sale of significant stake in Geo Steel.
2020: Purchase of 26.45% stake of JSW Vallabh Tinplate was for total sum of Rs 35 crore.

Accordingly the Company has exercised the option of conversion of 4100000000 OFCDs held by the Company in PSL into 4100000000 equity shares of PSL of face value of Rs.10/- each on 01 October 2021.
