Responsibilities
Draft pretrial motions and oppositions, including pleading-related motions, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
Draft trial motions and assist with preparing trial documents, including motions in limine, trial briefs, pocket briefs, and jury instructions and verdicts.
Drafting post-trial motions, including motions for new trial and motions for attorney's fees.
Opportunity to handle appellate cases and conduct appellate arguments, including learning from the firm's experienced appellate practitioners.
Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to clients and litigation attorneys on complex legal issues.
Analyze and assess litigation and appellate strategies.

JOB SUMMARY
Public Rights Project seeks to hire a Staff Attorney to join its Civil Rights Hub. The Staff Attorney will support Civil Rights Hub responsibilities, including performing legal research and writing, coordinating resources for local jurisdictions and leaders, and advising jurisdictional partners on a wide array of civil rights matters. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to a Senior Attorney in the Civil Rights Hub. This position will also work closely with the rest of the CRH team and other program teams.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Fully remote organization and team. This role may require travel a few times a year to PRP events, case hearings, or meetings. We currently have remote staff in Boston, Chicago, Kansas City (MO), Los Angeles, New York, Oakland, Seattle, and Washington, DC, as well as other cities. Work pace can be intense during periods of urgent response (e.g., weekend brief drafting), balanced with periods of lower intensity.
COMPENSATION
The determined salary range for this role is set at $82,735-$111,935 (for internal equity, PRP will not engage in salary negotiations; salaries are presently set based on years of experience).

POSITION: Farmworker Legal Services (FLS), a non-profit law office, is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) staff attorney to join its dynamic and committed team working alongside agricultural workers and community partners to provide civil legal services to farmworker and animal production workers throughout Michigan. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: Farmworker Legal Services (FLS) is a growing and nationally recognized non-profit law office and the statewide division of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) that fights for justice and dignity alongside the farmworker community through our systemic, multi-forum community engagement and direct legal representation of farmworkers in their civil legal matters. FLS currently has 10 permanent staff and 8 summer seasonal advocates based out of our Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Ypsilanti (Ann Arbor area) offices. FLS provides a full range of civil legal services to Michigan's eligible population of farmworkers and their dependents and prioritize cases including wage theft, trafficking, discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace health and safety, housing, civil rights, and labor-based immigration relief.
MAP works to advance the safety, independence, and economic stability of those most affected by poverty, racism, and other structurally oppressive systems by increasing access to justice and working for systemic solutions. MAP has provided civil legal aid for those unable to afford an attorney for more than 50 years, serving 13 counties through five legal aid offices as well as the statewide program that serves farmworkers (Farmworker Legal Services). MAP has a staff of about 220 people in offices in Battle Creek, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Monroe, and Ypsilanti. The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing an attorney when the state or federal constitution or a state statute requires the appointment of an attorney for a person who cannot afford to retain one. The agency provides representation in criminal, delinquency, youthful offender, child welfare, guardianship, mental health, sexually dangerous person, and sex offender registry cases, as well as in appeals and post-conviction and post-judgment proceedings related to those matters.
CHILDREN AND FAMILY LAW DIVISION OVERVIEW
Children & Family Law Division
Interns will assist lawyers and work closely with social workers to represent children and parents in cases in which the Department of Children and Families (DCF) removes children from their homes because of claims of neglect or abuse. ABOUT FRANKLIN COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT The Franklin County Municipal Court is the largest and busiest municipal court in the State of Ohio. The Court has fourteen judges in the General Division and one in the Environmental Division. Judges preside over civil, criminal, and traffic cases and conduct both jury and non-jury trials. The Court's jurisdiction includes traffic cases, misdemeanor criminal cases, and civil cases where the amount is $15,000 or less. The Environmental Division has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce local codes and regulations affecting real property, such as fire and building codes. The Court's geographic jurisdictions include all of Franklin County and those portions of the City of Columbus that extend beyond the boundaries of Franklin County. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City of Columbus government.
JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
The Franklin County Municipal Court Self Help Center was created in 2015 as a cost-effective solution to Ohio's access to justice problem. Center staff provide legal information, not legal advice, about civil matters in Municipal Court, including the sealing of criminal records, landlord/tenant disputes, filing and defending against lawsuits, and commercial debt collection. The Center's mission is to improve the quality of self-represented Court filings, increase access to justice, and provide a positive point of contact between the Court and the community.
Under the direction of the Managing Attorney, the Staff Attorney assists with managing court-wide programs providing services to self-represented litigants across multiple case types, including record sealing, landlord/tenant disputes, small claims, general division claims, and consumer/debt collection; participates in community outreach on behalf of the Court; serves as a center of knowledge for best practices of serving pro se litigants for the Court; assists with supervising community volunteers in the Center; and performs other related duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Provides legal information to self-represented litigants who otherwise would not have access to legal assistance and ensures that Center Visitors are provided with referrals to legal and non-legal resources as necessary.
Plans, manages, reviews, evaluates, and proposes new court programs to assist self-represented litigants across a variety of case types, including record sealing, landlord/tenant disputes, small claims, general division claims, and consumer/debt collection.
Recommends, facilitates, and consults with the Managing Attorney on the implementation of process, policy, and procedural changes to maximize assistance to self-represented litigants.

Assists in the preparation of a variety of correspondence, periodic and special reports, narrative and statistical reports, informational publications, program documentation, policies, procedures and other written materials; and may access varied databases or use information from various sources to prepare such materials.

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Juris Doctorate.

Legal internships provide law students with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience working in civil rights law for transgender communities. Legal Interns will engage in some of the following tasks under the supervision of Transgender Law Center's attorneys:
Assist with TLC's impact litigation docket including performing legal research, case investigation, and document review; producing legal writing (both internal memos and court documents); and participating in co-counsel meetings;
Engage in policy advocacy, including supporting the drafting of policy materials, and non-litigation advocacy on behalf of clients;
Draft Helpdesk and Prison Mail Program responses and resources for the public.
Requirements:
Enrollment in an ABA accredited law school
Interest in transgender issues and civil rights law
Commitment to racial and economic justice
Strong writing and research skills

The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking Investigations & Law Enforcement Development Interns & Fellows.
Investigations and Law Enforcement Development Interns and Fellows support IJM staff in liaising with local law enforcement officials to ensure that they intervene to rescue identified victims and arrest and charge the identified perpetrators. Depending on your level of experience, your role may involve some of the following responsibilities as well as other relevant duties assigned by the Field Office Director or Supervisor.
Assist with writing and editing reports of investigation activities;
Organize and track progress of ongoing operations, including the operation stage and expenses incurred for each operation;
Create intelligence reports that organize and analyze data;
Maintain department databases and files;
Assist in the development of protocols, procedures and best practices for the Investigations department;
Assist with organizing, administering and documenting ongoing training in Investigations;
Research future equipment needs and purchases;
Operate and maintain investigative equipment;
Facilitate investigations through logistical support as needed;
Develop and train Investigations Staff in investigations techniques;
Assist the Investigations staff in case development and case management;
Assist in the review of case investigations and provide appropriate feedback;
Compile criminal intelligence, enter the information in the intelligence database and analyze the intelligence to provide investigative leads to the Investigations Staff; and
Assist in operations planning, risk assessment and risk management.
Positions
may
be available in: Accra, Ghana; Bucharest, Romania; Lima, Peru; Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Salvador, El Salvador; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok, Thailand; Manila, Philippines; Cebu, Philippines. Not every position will be available in every office.

Internship General Qualifications and Required Skills
Bachelor's degree;

Fellowship General Qualifications and Required Skills
Minimum of five years as a commission local, state or federal law enforcement officer;

Tactical experience and / or critical incident management experience preferred; and
Fluency in Spanish required for Latin America offices.
