1876

Juniata’s first classes were held on April 17, 1876 in a cramped, second-story room over a local printing shop.

Andrew was to "provide students and furniture". Juniata's first classes were held on April 17, 1876 with Zuck teaching Rebecca Cornelius, Maggie D. Miller, and Gaius M. Brumbaugh, the only son of Andrew Brumbaugh.

Since its beginning in 1876, Juniata College has remained a rare and distinguished institution.

Juniata is an independent, co-educational college of liberal arts and sciences, founded in 1876 by members of the Church of the Brethren to prepare individuals “for the useful occupations of life.”

1894

In 1894, due to a ruling at the Brethren Church's Annual Meeting against using the term "Brethren" in naming a school, the college was renamed "Juniata College" for the nearby Juniata River, one of the principal tributaries of the Susquehanna River.

1923

Accounting Services, Digital Communications and Administrative Information Services are housed in The Stone House on Moore St Business Services and Human Resources are located at 1923 Moore St

1930

M. G. Brumbaugh died unexpectedly in 1930 while on vacation in Pinehurst, North Carolina and was succeeded in his presidency by a former pupil at Juniata, Doctor Charles Calvert Ellis.

1950

For the musical arts, headquarters is Swigart Hall (1950), an attractive, white-brick building also on the northern side of the campus.

1952

1968

In the Brumbaugh Academic Center (1968) , three separate wings house seven departments.

1998

A hub for out-of-classroom activity, the Kennedy Center contains two gymnasiums; a six-lane, 25-meter swimming pool; and the F. Samuel Brumbaugh and Martha A. Brumbaugh Strength and Fitness Center (1998); racquetball/handball courts; and three expanded locker rooms.

1999

The Oller Center for Peace and International Programs (1999) houses the offices of International Programs and Peace and Conflict Studies.

2002

The William J. von Liebig Center for Science (2002), is a state of the art facility for biology and chemistry.

2006

The Suzanne von Liebig Theatre (2006)is a 200 seat, free form state of the art flexible theatre.

2014

Nathan Hall (2014) is the newest residence hall, located at the north end of campus next to the Winton Hill Soccer Fields.
