Junior Buyer

Position Overview

Responsible for scheduling, and procurement of raw materials, parts, and components consistent with company policies and procedures. Maintain inventory at target level. The Buyer ensures continuous flow of materials to support manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and purchase material daily to support production and optimize inventory utilizing MRP.
• Monitor material requirements and expedite deliveries as required to synchronize supply chain inventory with customer demand.
• Expedite orders when necessary and negotiate considerations from suppliers with delinquent delivery status.
• Communicate purchase order status with internal customers (i.e., engineering, sales, and management).
• Establish and maintain order policies and lead times for product.
• Drive lead time reductions and establish supplier stocking agreements.
• Request pricing quote from suppliers for materials or services to determine the best quality at the best price.
• Coordinate efforts with suppliers and engineering as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• 1-2 years' experience preferred
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment a plus.
• Seek continuous education of materials management theories, processes and practices as
• department budget allows.
• Active and professional communication with team, internal customers and suppliers.
• Exhibit & encourage sense of urgency, highly energetic and success driven.

Summary

Buyers are responsible for negotiating and purchasing materials, equipment, services and supplies for Gobble. This is a fast-paced role that requires a customer service oriented individual who can engage with vendors and service providers in an efficient manner and in accordance with established procedures and policies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Negotiate with different suppliers for price, quality, timeliness and other factors.
• Expedite and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Write and analyze requisitions, invoices, supply requests and supply orders.
• Track and monitor inventory and needs to determine when to order or purchase new items.
• Coordinate payment, delivery, scheduling and organization of purchases.
• Define, measure and track categories for spending to provide targeted analyses of budget.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a buying position ideally in wholesale or retail food distribution.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred but will consider equivalent professional experience and certifications.
• Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in forecasting/planning, must arrive by date adherence.
• Experience with supplier compliance, shipping, receiving. On time, in full accountability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent judgement and escalate issues as needed.
• Proficiency in Google Applications (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets and Drive preferred.
• Aptitude for managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring proper follow through.

Work Environment

• High-pressure, time-sensitive environment with a high volume of work, tight deadlines. Warehouse location which can be noisy and cold at times.

Physical Requirements

• Comfortable with exposure to temperatures that range from -10F to 70F.
• Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds repetitively with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to stand /walk for up to 10-12 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to push, pull, squat, bend, and reach above and below shoulders. Repetitive use of hands.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

* Sets up tooling and dies on time per machine/setup schedule for release to the floor shop team members.
* Assist with grinding tools for associates on the floor as needed.
* Assist with maintaining and correcting inventory locations on perishable tooling and shop supplies.
* Issue tooling and other supplies from the crib to shop team member in an accurate and timely manner.
* Maintain accurate inventories of supplies and tooling. This involves accurate cycle counting and ordering items as needed as well as correct computer input of inventory information. Focus is on accuracy and minimizing inventory levels to the lowest level while still meeting the needs of the production floor.
* Order tooling as required; establish acceptable Kanban quantities.
* Keep work area organized and clean.

REQUIREMENTS:

* 2 years as a CNC machine operator.
* Able to use measuring equipment, to include micrometers, comparator, Smart Scope, profilometer, thread gages, pins, etalon, and digital linear gage.
* High School Diploma.
* Technical School or College Diploma a plus.
* Able to read and understand blueprints.
* Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
