The PDM Field Engineer I is based at a jobsite and is responsible for facilitating the interface between the jobsite and the home office engineering staff. When not assigned to a jobsite, the PDM Field Project Engineer I will be assigned to a Matrix engineering office to perform design and project engineering tasks in support of current projects. Observes the work being performed and coordinates with Engineering to address any deviations from the drawings and specifications. Assists the material receipt personnel by performing receipt inspections including coordination of non-conformance resolution with the cognizant Engineers and Procurement for incoming engineered equipment and components. Facilitates Engineering's review of rigging plans. Supports with pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. Supports in conducting and documenting facility performance tests when within the project scope. Supports the construction superintendent regarding construction planning requiring engineering interface. Coordinates site visit timing and requirements for engineering discipline EORs observations and sign-off. Works on special projects as assigned and directed by supervisor, the project engineer, or by the construction team. Travels to meetings with customers and vendors as required. Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical or other related discipline required. Entry-level Engineer; no experience required but field experience on construction project sites highly preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and good organizational skills. Ability to perform with minimal supervision. Ability to work on multiple activities at one time. Strong computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word are required. This position may require travel and overnight stays including some weekends, depending on job site location. Most work is in Ohio. Responsibilities: * Drive a quality culture that embraces "Implement Quality from the Start" and coach continuous learning approach that improves project efficiency and quality. * Identify areas for improvement while implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. * Assist investigations into quality-related incidents, conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions, establishing preventative measures to minimize future incidents. * Assist in the verification and documentation for all Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment, ensuring the conformance with the approved submittal while adhering to the Equipment Protection Plan. * Engage with the construction team and QCx team to support Foreign Objects and Debris (FOD) inspections prior to Energization on MV / LV SWGR, MV / LV XFMRs, Panelboards etc. * Assist onsite QCx team with administrative support as needed. * Participate in required daily, weekly, and monthly meetings (i.e., daily Cx, scheduling, coordination, pre-energization, and staffing meetings). * Assist in the coordination of the First Time Energization (FTE) documentation process from start to finish. * Identifies potential quality issues from review of construction submittals / specifications. * Analyzes upcoming tasks and anticipates equipment installation standards, checklist procedures and training. * Conduct regular audits and assessments of processes, systems, and documentation to ensure adherence to quality standards. * Manage all project issue logs and punch lists collaborating with all affected and / or responsible parties to mitigate and drive to closure any open issues. * Audit Quality Reports documenting field discrepancies and audit findings while coordinating corrective actions. * Ascertain information regarding changes to regulations that could impact Mission Critical operations. * Identify and assess quality risks associated with Mission Critical operations. * Manage / track certain OFCI equipment while communicating status with the construction team. * Develop / conduct training pertaining to topics in relation to electrical systems, components, and/or departmental specific. Work with Project Coordinators as required for assistance in Purchase and delivery tracking, software inputs, permit pulling, change order management, project close out materials, administrative duties, etc. Assist with job close out manuals and as-builts.
