As an intern within our Packaging department, you will leverage the state-of-the-art packaging lab to enable data-based decision making through the use of a variety of test methods. In this role you will:
Collaborate with external supply base to bring your ideas to life by identifying structure improvements while evaluating the impact on sustainability, production line efficiency and material cost.

Most Chemical Engineering co-ops and interns enter into the following positions:
Process / Technical Service Engineers may work on a variety of projects in the Technical Services Department together with your mentor that put your classroom experience as a Chemical Engineer into practice. The vast majority of our Chemical Engineering interns/co-ops work in this area. The experience will expand your understanding of the refining environment and technical aspects of the refinery. Past projects/duties include: develop and lead test runs to optimize refinery operations; perform process engineering calculations concerning the various process technology (or equipment) in the refinery; monitor and make recommendations in regards to catalyst and adsorbents; complete projects and provide recommendations for improvements to the refinery process and equipment.
Operations Research Engineers may help develop planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers. The models are used to optimize crude oil purchasing, refinery production, blending and finished product scheduling, and optimization of refinery production. Typical college co-op assignments include: validation of production data and mass balancing, process modeling, and development of graphical interfaces of refinery process units.
Environmental Engineers work on projects that involve the compliance of the entire refinery, and you will be exposed to the majority of process units in the refinery. You will be applying the engineering principles and calculations to various environmental projects and will also give you a broad knowledge of the various environmental laws that are applicable to refineries and what it takes to maintain compliance with those laws. Past projects/duties include: perform process calculations for the Risk Management Plan, including taking physical surveys of refinery process units; work on various process engineering projects within a Wastewater Treatment Plant; participate in inspections and/or testing that is conducted by federal, state, or local officials.
Products Control / Economics Engineers may work on a wide array of projects including operations, blending, and refinery economics. You will gain an understanding of how a tank farm is operated and how gasoline and other products are prepared and shipped to customers. In addition, you will gain some exposure to the overall economics of the refinery and how operating decisions are made based upon these economics. Past projects/duties include: analyze refinery process flow data and compare to recommended optimum levels, this will help in identifying equipment failures which cause variances in capacity from the optimum levels; update information on gasoline blends and tank samples in preparation for an annual blender waiver audit; develop applications to better present process data for refinery operating decisions.

Preparation for pantry station, fresh ingredients for salads, execution of recipes and making of salad dressings.
Learn station set up and execution of recipes for salads, appetizers, desserts and features.

Qualifications:
Candidate must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to work variable hours that may include daytime, evenings, weekends (no Sundays), and holidays.
Good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills as well as good personal hygiene.
Strong attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure at a consistent and steady pace for extended time periods, and ability to closely follow established procedures.
Ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, stand for long periods of time, and move from area to area in the kitchen.

Engineering Intern/Co-Op (Massillon, OH)

Engineering Intern or Co-Op students will be assigned to a Process Engineering, Project Engineering, or Reliability focus area depending on their major and interest. Responsibilities vary by area, but may include: Coordinate and evaluate trials on the paper machines, pulp mill, secondary fiber, or other parts of the mill.
Conduct routine pulp and paper tests that are required for evaluation of trials or for trouble shooting on the machines.
Monitor key process sensing equipment to determine accuracy and reliability. If a problem is detected implement the repair.
Conduct routine pulp quality tests on a weekly basis. These tests include efficiencies, consistencies, and critical solids verifications, along with any others tha6t are deemed necessary.
Conduct periodic monitoring of key consistency loops on stock chests. Also, interface with the E/l Department in order to improve loops that are not functioning correctly.
Order and maintain routine laboratory supplies and chemical solutions.
Assist in the start-up of paper machines from monthly shutdowns.
Conduct critical paper machine maintenance inspections.
Update lab MSDS's for materials and chemicals used in the lab.
Project management tasks
Maintenance and reliability tasks
Other duties as needs and interest arise.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled student majoring in Chemical Engineering, Paper Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related major and have completed the freshman year.
A minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 is required.
You must be eligible to work in the US on a full time basis.
Abilities/Skills:
Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Candidate must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.
Employer Expectations:
The intern/co-op student must take ownership of their work and work area.
The ability to work with other mill personnel, operators, and supervisors is a requirement.
A positive work attitude is essential.
Housing/Relocation Information for Intern/Co-Op Term:
A housing stipend may be offered up to $1000 grossed-up per month if necessary
PCA will reimburse the student for the move to their new housing upon starting the internship/co-op as well as the return home at the end of their work experience.
Pay is dependent on the student's year in school.
