NFI Massachusetts juvenile counselor job description

NFI Massachusetts Inc., a non-profit human services agency, is currently seeking a Juvenile Justice Counselor for our program located in Peabody, MA.

This program is a residential DYS detention program for adolescent males (ages 13-18) referred by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. It is a well-staffed program with administrators, licensed clinicians, teachers, direct care staff and other support staff. The program structure includes classes 5.5 hours per day, individual and group counseling, life skills and pre-vocational skills training. Providing a safe and staff secure environment and meeting/exceeding all contractual expectations is the ultimate goal of the program.

This is a highly responsible position in the Juvenile Justice System, and a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience for careers in the Juvenile Justice and/or Child Welfare systems as well as law enforcement, corrections and probation.

We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated and caring individuals with strong interpersonal skills to provide direct care to youth served within the program. Candidates must have strong communication skills, demonstrated ability in working with teenagers, the ability to set limits, adhere to program policies and procedures, and work well within a team setting. We are looking to fill positions on the third shift as well as candidates who are willing to working a combination of first /second shifts.

Status: Full time, part time, or relief positions
Hourly: $18/hr

Bonus: $1500 after 60 days and $1500 after 90 days = $3000

Job Requirements:

Experience working with teenagers or a similar population.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal /Juvenile Justice preferred.
Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must.
Must be 21 years of age.

This is hourly paid work recruiting talent for the Department of Juvenile Justice. Duties include working with facilities to determine staffing needs, coordinate job fairs, post positions and recruit for hard to fill positions. This position is part-time and requires less than 30 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

* Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives and meeting with managers and or Human Resources staff to discuss needs, create recruitment plans and innovative ways to attract candidates.

* Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, military installations outreach programs and other sources in order to provide organization information, opportunities, and benefits
* Build relationships with partners
* Reviews applications to determine if the applicant meets the qualifications needed for the position applied

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to meeting the minimum requirements possess three of the following:

* One (1) or more years' experience in recruiting for state, local, or federal government.
* Two (2) or more years working in a Human Resources field
* Three (3) or more years professional level recruiting experience.
* One (1) or more years' experience in using Taleo or a comparable applicant tracking system
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience successfully building relationships to be viewed as a trusted resource for advice and guidance.
* Demonstrated experience with developing recruiting plans and innovative ways to attract qualified candidates.
