Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control in accordance with established policies and procedures. Provides basic health information and education to patients following established protocols. Prepares examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies. Accurately documents patient information, medical history, and treatment plans in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Assists with patient education regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care. Coordinates referrals to specialists and diagnostic testing as needed. Ensures compliance with infection control protocols and maintains a safe, clean environment. Assists with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and verifying insurance information. Accurately files patients' lab results, X-rays, EKG results, and other documents after provider review and sign-off. Participates in staff meetings, including quality improvement sessions, case conferences, and in-service training. Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team. Performs other duties and tasks as required or assigned. Participate in JWCH's customer service training called AIDET on an annual basis. Demonstrate an understanding of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) to apply in patient encounters or team discussions. Utilize the AIDET communication framework to communicate with patients and team members in a manner that reduces patient anxiety, increases patient compliance, and improves clinical outcomes. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant school with a current MA certificate Verification of appropriate hours in approved Medical Assistant course to perform venipuncture Current BLS certificate from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
