  • Diagnostic Imagining Technologist-Radiology III-PD

    Under general supervision, operates radiographic equipment, including whole body CT scanners and radiographic equipment; develops x-ray images; maintains adequate records; assists physician in fluoroscopic examinations; operates portable x-ray equipment, and follows standard radiation and safety procedures. Essential Functions:- Explain test procedures and purpose. - Demonstrate equipment for patient. - Assist physician during minor surgical procedures, and in developing new techniques and procedures. - Assist in obtaining tissue specimens. - Assist provider in patient examinations and procedures. - Follow standard infection control procedures. - Lift patients. - Modify treatment techniques which do not require change in physician orders. - Monitor and evaluate test readings during procedures. - Observe, monitor, and evaluate patient condition during and after procedures. - Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging tests. - Respond to emergencies (i.e., stat pages, Code Blue) and stat requests. - Shave and apply antiseptic solutions to patient skin areas. - Transport patients to/from procedure area. - Assist physician with fluoroscopic examinations. - Assist in cardiovascular procedures. - Develop digital or film images and makes prints if applicable. - Load and unload imaging film in radiology equipment. - Mix and administer barium to patients.- Perform whole body CT scans and take radiographs. - Assist physician with inpatient and outpatient pacemaker procedures. - Perform radiation safety monitoring. - Clean darkroom, procedures room, and work area. - Records patient Information. - Review patient charts to evaluate patients and identify significant conditions. - Compile data for Quality Assurance. - Complete diagnostic examination requisitions, forms, and records for pre-op work. - Check emergency equipment. - Restock supplies in examination rooms. - Select and set out appropriate tubing and sterile supplies. - Set up instruments and surgical trays. Operate radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable x-ray equipment. - Arrange for repair of imaging equipment. - Inspect equipment and instruments for damage. - Maintain equipment in good working order. - Fill requests for equipment and supplies. - Maintain and order supplies. - Dispose of expendable medical supplies, and of used syringes and contaminated materials properly. - Inventory equipment and supplies. - Maintain solutions, chemicals, and automatic equipment. - Replenish supplies and equipment. - Maintain patient information material. - Attend conferences, meetings and in-service training programs. - Serve as resource person to co-workers by answering procedural questions and assisting in problem solving. - Conduct in service training. - Maintain current licensure/certifications, and proficiency in clinical skills. - Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed. Pay Grade: 26 Basic Qualifications: • Must have three (3) years of recent Radiologic technology experience, including one (1) year of recent experience in whole body computerized tomography (CT). The one (1) year of CT experience requirement may be substituted with successful completion of the department's formal CT training program. • Possesses and maintains current California (CRT) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification. • Fluoroscopy Certification required. • Certificate in Venipuncture. • American Heart Association approved BLS Certification. • Technical skills and knowledge required may vary by location and area. • Operates radiographic and/or fluoroscopic equipment as well as film or digital processing equipment. Notes: + This is a variable position, start times may vary within the specific shift. + Will Work Occasional Weekends.     Under general supervision, perform invasive mammographic procedures including but not limited to: stereotactic breast biopsies, localizations, and diagnostic work-up, operates dedicated and specialized mammography radiographic equipment; formulates/calculates techniques and positions patients to produce diagnostic images of human breast and associated tissue and related unusual changes for the use by physicians in making medical diagnoses. Within the established and/or recognized scope of practice, uses independent judgment in critiquing radiographic and mammographic images, and take additional views as necessary. Essential Functions:- Operates mammography radiographic equipment in a patient care setting for purposes of obtaining diagnostic quality mammography images.- Positions patients accurately, taking into consideration the sensitive nature of the exam and the patient's response to compression.- Communicates clearly, effectively, and appropriately at all times.- Participates in scheduling of screening and follow-up mammography exams, breast imaging biopsy procedures, and diagnostic breast imaging procedures, which may include explaining breast imaging results to the patient as they relate to recommended additional imaging and biopsy procedures.- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to perform or assist in performance of required mammography quality control for mammography equipment according to the requirements of the State of California and MSQA.- Observes and complies with all applicable Regional, Medical Center and Departmental policies and procedures. Observes and complies with all HIPAA requirements and regulations.- Exercises clinical judgment within scope of practice.- Technologist must meet continuing education and continuing experience requirements of the ARRT, CRT, MQSA and the State of California.- Operates specialized mammography equipment to assist physicians in the performance of stereotactic breast biopsy procedures, mammographic pre-operative needle localizations, galactograms, and additional mammographic imaging as recommended in the performance of diagnostic mammography.- Accurately documents all pertinent information regarding breast imaging procedures as required according to organization, state, and federal regulations.- Inputs data for purpose of performing the Medical Audit.- Performs database maintenance functions in the mammography tracking system.- Demonstrates knowledge of, and consistently uses, proper sterile infection control and specimen handling techniques.- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of, and has the ability to perform, required mammography Q.C. for stereotactic breast biopsy and mammography equipment.- May perform other duties as required and assigned. Basic Qualifications: • Minimum two (2) years of recent experience (within the last 12 months) as a Mammographic Radiologic Technologist I. • Possesses and maintains current and valid certification as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT), and, Mammography Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Public Health (CRT-M). • Valid and current Registration as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R). • Ability to demonstrate and apply knowledge, principles and practices of radiologic, mammographic and stereotactic biopsy techniques, breast structures, anatomy, composition and pathology. • Demonstrated ability to perform Quality Control/Assurance functions required for mammography and stereotactic breast biopsies as stipulated in the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and, Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). Preferred Qualifications: • Three (3) years of recent experience (within the last 12 months) as a Mammography Technologist and one (1) year of experience in analog breast imaging. • Valid and current Registration as a Mammography Radiologic Technologist issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-M).
