Under direct supervision, cleans and maintains an assigned area, and performs a variety of environmental services duties in and around the medical center in order to maintain a neat, orderly, sanitary, and safe environment. Essential Responsibilities:
* Operates and utilizes equipment needed to include cleaner, wet mop unit, dust pay, dust mop, back vacuum, automatic floor scrubber, shampoo machine, high speed buffer, carpet extractor, wet/dry vacuum, floor buffer, wall washer and utility cart.
* Operates and utilizes sanipac, compactor and bailer.
* Utilizing standard cleaning products, cleans patient areas to include restrooms, discharge beds, woodwork, horizontal surfaces, TVs cabinets, furniture, glass, walls, floors, all affixed items, replenish dispensers, remove soiled linen and trash.
* Utilizing standard cleaning products, cleans auxiliary areas to include medication room, nursing station, tub room, soiled utility rooms, storage areas, staff lounge, quiet rooms, offices, exam rooms, treatment rooms, waiting rooms, lobbies, elevators, water fountain, ice machines, telephones, all horizontal surfaces and high dusting.
* Replenishes supplies such as: paper-towels, toilet paper, soap, plastic liners, paper cups and seat covers.
* Reports unsafe conditions such as defective or damaged equipment.
* Assures sharp objects are in proper containers, follows safety rules established by the department and uses proper body mechanics such a lifting techniques.
* Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Mops and buffs floors, vacuums carpets, spot cleans, and arranges furniture and equipment back in an orderly fashion after cleaning assigned resident units and public areas.
Completes daily cleaning work assignments in a timely manner. Under normal supervision, cleans each home in the appropriate time given.
Utilizes the appropriate chemicals, supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacture's recommendations.
Completes work assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
Reports all safety hazards to the EVS Manager or Supervisor as appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:
Minimum 6 months experience as an Environmental Services Aide or equivalent; experience in a health care environment preferred.
Ability to perform housekeeping duties.
Working knowledge of housekeeping equipment: buff and wax equipment, vacuum, hazardous chemicals and their safe handling
Comprehensive understanding of the English Language; must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

This performs a variety of general as well as moderately complex cleaning tasks in assigned specialty areas to provide a safe and attractive environment for patients and staff. This position maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures. In addition, this position follows Operating Room standards for turnover and terminal cleaning of procedure rooms. This position works with floor maintenance equipment and chemicals, as well as handling and interaction with hazardous materials for appropriate disposal, conference room set ups and linen distribution, collection and tracking, as appropriate.
**Essential Functions:**
1. Cleans and services patient rooms, offices and common areas. Follows cleaning procedures and checks off list after completion of each room.
2. Sweeps, mops, waxes all floors using clean water, sanitized mops and accurately uses floor polishers.
3. Provides supplies (tissues, paper towels, soap, etc.) to areas as needed. Checks cleaning supplies daily before going to area.
4. Appropriately disposes of trash and medical waste from all areas of the hospital. Maintains trash cans sanitized with new liner, tie and disposes trash in compactor.
5. Moves furniture and exercises safety procedures and avoids damage to furniture or walls.
6. Cleans assigned areas using proper solutions, equipment and techniques. Uses properly labeled chemicals. Follows cleaning procedures and checks off list after completion of each room.
7. Cleans equipment after each use and stores it neatly in designated area.
8. Checks cleaning supplies each day before going to area and exercises responsibility in the use of supplies.
9. Follows cleaning procedures and checks off list after completion of each room. It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
10. Regular and predictable attendance required.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
High school diploma or equivalent. One year full-time, wage-earning housekeeping experience, preferably in a commercial or healthcare setting. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Under direct supervision, cleans and maintains an assigned area, and performs a variety of environmental services duties in and around the medical center in order to maintain a neat, orderly, sanitary, and safe environment. Essential Responsibilities:
+ Operates and utilizes equipment needed to include cleaner, wet mop unit, dust pay, dust mop, back vacuum, automatic floor scrubber, shampoo machine, high speed buffer, carpet extractor, wet/dry vacuum, floor buffer, wall washer and utility cart.
+ Operates and utilizes sanipac, compactor and bailer.
+ Utilizing standard cleaning products, cleans patient areas to include restrooms, discharge beds, woodwork, horizontal surfaces, TVs cabinets, furniture, glass, walls, floors, all affixed items, replenish dispensers, remove soiled linen and trash.
+ Utilizing standard cleaning products, cleans auxiliary areas to include medication room, nursing station, tub room, soiled utility rooms, storage areas, staff lounge, quiet rooms, offices, exam rooms, treatment rooms, waiting rooms, lobbies, elevators, water fountain, ice machines, telephones, all horizontal surfaces and high dusting.
+ Replenishes supplies such as: paper-towels, toilet paper, soap, plastic liners, paper cups and seat covers.
+ Reports unsafe conditions such as defective or damaged equipment.
+ Assures sharp objects are in proper containers, follows safety rules established by the department and uses proper body mechanics such a lifting techniques.
