The full time Pharmacy Technician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ca will perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. From inpatient and outpatient positions, to sterile compounding, and transitions of care, the start of your Pharmacy Career at Cedars-Sinai is around the corner!
What's this role all about?
Prepares, delivers, and distributes medications in an accurate and timely manner to appropriate care areas according to policies and procedures, while at the same time prioritizing workflow and maintaining required documentation
Uses technology safely and effectively to prepare, distribute, deliver and refill medications and services to patients
Effectively uses the electronic medical record to support patient care
Prepares accurate and timely compounded sterile products appropriate to area following policies and procedures, best practices and standards of practice
Assists pharmacists with patient medication reconciliation functions, including screening of patients, obtaining medication lists, and documentation of medication reconciliation activities
Communicates effectively with members of the healthcare team and patients, and willingly participates in new initiatives and tasks as needed to support patient care
Performs inventory control functions
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required
Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy
Ability to perform pharmacy calculations involving ratios, proportions and percentages
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to use software applications and operate technological devices
Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of State, Federal and Agency standards to comply with regulations
Previous hospital experience preferred

Description Of Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist and consistent with California state pharmacy regulations to provide non-discretionary tasks, the Pharmacy Desk Technician prepares Specialty Pharmacy orders for filling, maintains work areas, follows up on narcotic scripts, and enters medication profiles in a timely manner.

1. Refills:
· Placing calls to the patient to coordinate a timely and accurate delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies.

2. Perform data entry:
· Perform data entry of patient medication profiles and patient chart audits
· Discharge patients from CPR+ at the end of therapy
3. Pharmacy Liaison:
· Act as liaison for the Pharmacy department
· Communicate with doctors, nurses, and hospitals regarding patient care
· Perform triplicate request and being able to follow up in a timely matter
· Being able to communicate well with the pharmacy staff and supervisor
· Coordinate triplicate requests and their documentation as appropriate including exemption forms for all narcotic patients
4. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
5. Participate in the pharmacy's Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
6. Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
7. Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in the delivery of quality pharmaceutical care and medication distribution as permitted by law.
Essential Job Functions

* Answers the telephone and assists customers seeking pharmaceutical care. Performs a variety of data entry and report generating tasks.
* Assists the pharmacist with all aspects of the Billings Clinic medication distribution system including compounding/admixing pharmaceutical preparations, filling bottles/bingo cards with prescribed tablets/capsules, processing prescriptions and emergent prescriptions, adjudicating claims, performing point of sale functions, proper utilization of outpatient pharmacy technology etc.
* Maintains adequate medication inventories and supplies to meet dispensing needs.
* Maintains an accurate controlled substance perpetual inventory via appropriate use of controlled substance vault or controlled substance records.
* Facilitates the delivery of all pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of the customer/patient and ensures proper point-of-sale (POS ) processes and balancing of POS funds and registers.
* Maintains the pharmacy in a neat and organized condition.
* Processes complete prescription claims including proper adjudication/reconciliation, insurance verification, prior authorization, and compassionate care/medication assistance programs associated with patient accounts and insurance claims billing.
* Enters medication charges and credits for the adjudication/reconciliation of patient accounts and insurance claims billing.
* Participates in quality improvement activities utilizing performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.
* Educates and trains new pharmacy staff, students, and residents, as appropriate.
