Kaman Composites Vermont in Bennington Vermont has a 2nd shift opening for CNC Machinists. Will set up and run jobs on 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines performing close tolerance finishing operations on assigned parts per established production schedule. The individual will also cross train in manual machining to be able to perform daily tasks as required. Will participate in all continuous improvement activities in the work cell and be part of daily preventative maintenance on the machines.
Responsibilities:
Set up and run jobs on CNC machines per assigned production schedule.
Cross train in manual machining to be able to run jobs as needed.
Work with CNC programmers to ensure that timely and accurate programs are ready to run jobs.
Participate in designated continuous improvement activities in the work cell and in other areas of the company as requested.
Perform routine daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on machines as needed.
Participate in all required training sessions.
Keep work area neat and clean and store jigs, fixtures and tools in their designated areas.
Complete all required data entry and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Complete other tasks as assigned by manager.
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment with proven mechanical aptitude, strong math skills and ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings. Preference will be given to applicants with prior machining experience.

What You Will Do:
Our Pratt & Whitney Middletown, CT facility has several exciting opportunities for a Production Machinist available on 1st shift.
1st shift hours are Monday through Friday from approximately 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.
In this role, you will setup and operate one machine tool or process equipment type and operate more than one unrelated machine tool or process equipment types within an assigned area to produce precision turbine engine parts. You will perform work where methods, procedures and processes are well developed and the required tooling, gaging and fixturing are provided.
Under the direction of leader/supervisor, work from verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, drawings and other pertinent information. Following established methods and procedures, use manual or numerically controlled machine tools such as milling, boring, grinding, turning, broaching and shaping machines to achieve the required dimensional specifications. Recognize indications of dull or damaged cutting tools and replace as needed.
Perform bench, assembly and surface finishing operations such as deburring, blending, trimming and fitting, using a variety of hand and power tools. Follow prescribed methods and procedures to perform drilling, riveting and bonding operations to assemble various details in producing a finished part. Operate part-marking equipment.
Use a variety of media, dry or liquid, to perform cleaning or part preparation and finishing operations. Operate tumbling, grit blast, shot peen, buffing and polishing equipment, wash machines and dip tanks for part surface conditioning. Apply masking as required. Perform applications of anti-gall and polymite coatings utilizing dry bake ovens to cure.
Utilize a variety of fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and part features. Operate OpCert and other computer-based systems to retrieve and store information and records.
Perform routine servicing throughout assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions, such as operators' checklist, for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

FUNCTION: Setup and operate one machine tool or process equipment type and operate more than one unrelated machine tool or process equipment types within an assigned area to produce precision turbine engine parts. What You Will Do:
Under the direction of leader/supervisor, work from verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, drawings and other pertinent information. Role Overview:
Under general supervision, sets up and operates vertical machining centers, lathes, mills, and other similar special machines. Performs operations such as forming, drilling, tapping, reaming, chamfering, cutting, etc. and is responsible for product quality through the utilization of various inspection methods.

Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate computerized numerically controlled mills.
Ensure that product quality meets IMI standards.
Ensure productivity is maintained at 100% or above through proper set-ups and operation of machinery to minimize cost to the department, while maintaining schedule integrity.
Ensure quality parts while minimizing scrap and rework through proper use of measuring devices and visual or mechanical inspection parts, correct and effective use of charts and records.
Recognize potential problems with products or processes to ensure that IMI quality standards are maintained
Provide a positive team atmosphere through effective communications and respect for fellow employees.
Ensure that accuracy, neatness, and legibility of paperwork is maintained, minimizing cost to the department through the elimination of tracking and corrections of mistakes.
Maintain the workstation in a neat and orderly manner, while observing all safety and housekeeping rules
Maintain simple records, datasheets, work orders, and time cards accurately to avoid time-consuming and costly errors.
Maintain and increase job skills to allow for flexibility within the department.
Adjust and troubleshoot, perform set-ups for new jobs.
Train new machinists.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

This position supports Click Bond's Operations and, under direct supervision, is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, secondary equipment, facility equipment and the facility grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform highly diversified mechanical duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilities equipment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during scheduled machine service.
Maintain and rebuild Baird and Waterbury Farrel presses, eyelet machines, and tool room equipment.
Utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), complete assigned repair work orders, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and projects.
Fabricate parts out of diverse types of material with or without the assistance of a print or drawing, by using milling machines, lathes, grinders, welders, shears, breaks, torches, presses, and other industrial equipment.
Read and interpret key documents including equipment logs, equipment documentation, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
Handling and utilizing compressed air and other gases safely and effectively.
Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory.
Perform routine tests and qualifications on equipment and document findings and results.
General maintenance duties such as cleaning floors, removing garbage, unclogging drains.
Utilize basic plumbing and carpentry skills to perform repairs.
Safely and efficiently use Rigging and lifting equipment as needed.
Operating a fork-lift as needed.
Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.

Qualifications
