The Manager, Financial Reporting will report to the Director, Financial Reporting and manage certain aspects of the financial reporting team. The Manager, Financial Reporting will manage two direct reports to achieve goals and responsibilities of the financial reporting group and will support the Director, Financial Reporting in various research and reporting guidance requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage the preparation and filing of all required periodic reports for GATX in accordance with SEC rules and regulations (Form 10-Ks and Form 10-Qs). Plan and coordinate the compilation, analysis and review of all applicable financial and disclosure information, including iXBRL. Collaborate with independent auditors for timely and efficient completion of the audit. Assist in drafting new and revised disclosures for periodic reports. Additionally, manage the preparation and filing of other SEC reports (Form 8-K's, Form 11-K's) as required; collaborate with Legal Dept.as necessary. Includes SOX requirements
Manage the external and internal reporting requirements of the newly-formed joint venture, including the audited annual financial statements and required quarterly financial statements. Oversee any required internal accounting and consolidation of the joint venture into the GATX consolidated financial statements, including consideration of non-controlling interest adjustments. Assist in the review of cash flow impacting the calculation of GATX's ownership of the joint venture. In addition, manage the reporting requirements required by the joint venture partner for the managed long-term lease portfolio. Address ad hoc requests as needed.
Lead the monthly/quarterly accounting close process for the Rail International Segment, including:
Partner with the accounting departments at our foreign locations to form a collaborative, communicative relationship
Oversight of the communication between the Chicago accounting team and the accounting departments at our foreign locations to ensure a full understanding of the foreign operations and their implications on our consolidated accounting activities, as well as to review the impacts of intercompany transactions.
Preparation and review of monthly close activities, including journal entries, Fx translation, and other close process steps for the Rail International segment entities managed at Corporate to ensure monthly activities are recorded in accordance with GATX accounting policies
Prepare and review the Rail International segment monthly and quarterly reporting package, including income statement and balance sheet variance analysis, key performance metrics, and statement of cash flows.
Review of the Rail International segment schedules used in preparation of our required financial statements and disclosures for the 10-K, 10-Q, and other reporting needs.
Manage the preparation of audited financial statements for other GATX reporting entities in accordance with statutory guidelines (including foreign subsidiaries) and the hourly and salary pension / 401(k) plans. Collaborate with independent auditors for timely and efficient completion of applicable audits. Also, manage the preparation and filing of all government reports and surveys, as applicable.

Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities
The Tax Accountant - Fixed Assets will play a key role in ensuring that GATX's fixed assets are accurately accounted for and properly treated for tax purposes. The tax accountant will review the fixed assets information entered in the general ledger and ensure that fixed asset transactions are accurately recorded and transferred in the fixed assets tax depreciation system (TDS). This person will be responsible for updating and maintaining the tax fixed asset system and performing fixed assets reconciliations. The tax accountant will also support the Domestic, International, and Indirect tax groups by helping with fixed asset-related projects and providing fixed assets reports and information as needed.
Assist with Domestic and International tax compliance by providing fixed assets reports and performing any calculations that involve fixed assets data.
Assist in developing and improving fixed assets processes to enhance efficiency and compliance. This includes monitoring fixed assets transactions to prevent misappropriation and ensure proper tracking
Perform analysis on the fixed assets data. The tax accountant will use data analytics tools to analyze fixed asset data, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making.
Monitor tax law changes related to fixed asset tax accounting.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
1 - 2 years of business experience in a professional office environment (preferably working on fixed assets), through part-time work or internships.

Training
You are expected to attend five weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center (ATC) in Atlanta, GA. Training includes a combination of classroom and computer-based learning, hands-on simulations, and physical competencies. New hires must maintain an 85% passing rate on quizzes and tests to remain in training. Failure to maintain the 85% average will result in new hires being released from the program and their offer will be rescinded. CSX will provide a hotel room for the entire five weeks and lunch is provided on class days. New hires will receive $20 per day meal allowance starting day one of training. Roundtrip mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate between the hiring location and Atlanta, as well as mileage between the training center and hotel. On-the-job training begins immediately following the successful completion of training at the ATC.
