Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) is a highly
specialized medical school in Kansas City, Missouri. KCUMB offers
advanced degrees in osteopathic medicine and medical research. KCUMB also
provides maximum opportunities to enhance professional skills, work with
patients and receive mentoring. KCUMB's academics include a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine and
master's degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Bioethics. Students in the Biomedical and Bioethics programs conduct research
alongside faculty. Osteopathic Medicine students receive much of their
hands-on experience by undertaking clinical assignments. KCUMB's student organizations provide opportunities for professional
networking and enhancement. They also give students the chance to meet
others from a similar background. Student clubs include: * Catholic Students in Medicine Association * Dermatology Club * Sports Medicine Association * Student Osteopathic Anesthesia Organization * Women in Medicine Club KCUMB also has extensive mentoring opportunities. All students have a
faculty advisor who meets with them regularly throughout their program.
Students have the chance to network with alumni, as well. They may even
offer mentoring themselves through the Big Brother/Sister alliance. Osteopathic Medicine students may also offer community service and gain
professional experience by volunteering for free health screening
programs. Admissions requirements are different for each program. Applicants to the
osteopathy program should have a total score of at least 23 on the MCAT
and a GPA of at least 3.25. A certain number of classes in the sciences
are also required. KCUMB awards a number of scholarships, of varying amounts. KCUMB awards
scholarships to those with a high GPA and MCAT scores. There are also
diversity scholarships and scholarships for military. Other types of
