About This Role
This Veterinary Large Animal Nurse I (Limited Term) Intern position provides an opportunity for professional growth in the Veterinary Health Center. An outstanding graduate veterinary nurse will be selected to obtain high quality, enhanced technical experience and training through employment in defined specialty areas. Objective of this position is to enhance employee marketability for private practice and/or assist with obtaining two years of post-graduate experience to qualify for future Veterinary Nurse II openings in the VHC. What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
* Requires the completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Must obtain a Kansas license as a Veterinary Technician within 6 months of employment. Completion of a two-year AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is required for licensure in the State of Kansas and ensures that veterinary nurses possess the clinical expertise, ethical grounding and regulatory compliance necessary to deliver safe, high-quality care.
Preferred Qualifications:
* One year of experience in animal or veterinary technical support.
* Ability to maintain and use ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
* Physically able to handle, restrain and provide medical services to domestic animals.
* A working knowledge of operating room sterile technique procedures is preferred.
* A knowledge of standard emergency veterinary medical procedures is preferred.
* Ability to perform word processing and data entry on a personal computer.
* Willing and able to master new techniques.
* Demonstrated interest in a specific clinical discipline.
* Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Additional Role Information:
* Must be a registered paraprofessional under the authority of the Kansas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners within six months of employment.

Job Summary
The Lincoln Center Education Teaching Artist ls a practicing professional artist hired by Lincoln Center and trained In LCE's educational practice to implement LCE's programs. LCE maintains a faculty of teaching artists that span many disciplines and art forms, including Dance, Digital Arts, Film, Theater/Acting, Instrumental and Vocal, Visual Arts and more. Through the practice of aesthetic education, LCE teaching artists develop inquiry-based, learner-centered arts experiences designed to deepen a participant's connection with a work of art. As a member of the Teaching Artists chapter of the UFT, rates, fees and scopes of work are pre-determined, outlined in the collective bargaining agreement, and guide the structure of the work.
Teaching artist trainee/candidates who successfully move forward through the initial screening process will be invited to a four-day mandatory training session on Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7, from 9:00am-4:00pm. All candidates must attend on these dates and will be paid at the applicable union rate for attending on all four dates.

This paid program is ideal for those who are eager to begin a career in healthcare but do not yet possess a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

This 6-month program includes 2-3 weeks of mandatory daytime classroom training to build foundational clinical knowledge and skills essential for success in the patient care setting.
The Health Care Gold Standard Program Intern will receive training in:
Basic nursing skills, Staff and patient safety, Infection prevention and control,
Documentation of patient care activities. The PCA Intern Program provides comprehensive preparation to support nursing teams and deliver compassionate patient care. It is an excellent stepping stone for individuals pursuing careers in nursing, healthcare, or related fields.
At the end of the program, interns must pass a knowledge assessment and successfully complete skills and techniques validation.
Full-time or part-time commitment required until 175 training hours are completed.
Limited DAY shift openings are available at this time.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Receives training in providing basic nursing skills, such as taking vital signs and pulse oximetry; fingerstick blood glucose, ADLs, recording intake and output, collecting urine, stool, sputum specimens, apply/remove compression hose, SCDs etc., emptying drains, urinary catheters, NG tubes, and ostomies.
* Receives training in how to document all tasks, I&O, percentage of meals eaten, etc., in O2.
* Learns the importance of maintaining a neat, clutter free and clean patient room and work environment.
* Receives training in maintaining a safe patient environment that includes High Fall Risk interventions as appropriate for high fall risk patients. This includes but is not limited to hourly rounds, promptly answering call lights in person promptly for all patients on the unit, and how to reinforce patient/family education regarding fall and safety precautions.
* Receives instruction in proper hand hygiene, standard precautions, and isolation principles.
* Learns the importance of promptly notifying the RN of patient changes in vital signs from baseline or expected result, in mental status or condition, any breakdown in skin integrity or redness of skin, patient reports of pain, other patient needs, concerns or issues.
* Receives training in care for the patient in restraints, including ROM and fluids/toileting, and reorienting confused patients.
* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

The School Leadership Internship Supervisor serves as the faculty mentor to all assigned student interns. In addition to the mentoring function, the Internship Supervisor assures that all required student competencies are met and that all written coursework is completed in a manner that reflects the highest standards of our profession. Ultimately the Internship Supervisor will provide the student with a final course grade that is based upon all written coursework as well as the assessment of the site supervisor (e.g. building principal, superintendent, or designee).
Responsibilities
Reviews the candidate's internship agreement in order suggest additional strategies for meeting the required competencies.
Reviews and assesses all written assignments including weekly internship logs, reflection journals, action research projects, and case studies.
