This position contributes to the quality and reputation of the aviation management academic program, preparing learners for successful careers in aviation maintenance. This position will support curricular operations of the program, manage the campus' 14 CFR Part 147 documentation, and assist with innovative aviation maintenance educational programs that serve to populate the industry talent pipeline through multiple modalities, both within and outside of the 14 CFR Part 147 program. This position reports to the Aviation department head. This position is a 12-month appointment. NOTE: Program directors do not supervise faculty or staff. Kansas State University requires this to be done by the department head. Directors can have input on annual evaluations, but final evaluations are to be completed by the department head per university policy. Program Management - 30%: Manage the college's 14 CFR Part 147 certificate and corresponding operations, ensuring compliance with all FAA regulations and requirements outlined in the 14 CFR Part 147 document. Oversee the maintenance and updates of the 14 CFR Part 147 document to reflect current industry standards and best practices. Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement necessary changes and improvements to the program based on FAA guidelines. Serve as day-to-day point of contact for any faculty, staff, or student needs relating to the aviation maintenance program. Administer industry advisory board for the program, collaborating with the director of corporate relations as appropriate. May document valuables for patients being admitted. * When phlebotomy training is completed, demonstrates working knowledge and skills for phlebotomy, including the accurate labeling of specimens. Assists in maintaining necessary supplies, blood tubes from Lab. * Understands the First Net tracking board icons and their associated tasks are essential for efficient patient care/patient flow. Demonstrates accurate prioritization skills for: stat/now orders, answering/placing phone calls, recognizing/reporting critical lab values and other test results, recognizing emergent patient needs, etc. Understands management/follow-up is essential to be sure testing ordered reaches the patient. * Demonstrates the ability to print/maintain hardcopies of inpatient orders. Maintains competency of order entry, computer downtime procedure, and future orders.     Title Phlebotomist 7am - 11am Medical Pavilion / Career Interest: The University of Kansas Health System Phlebotomist is a position within the clinical laboratory that is responsible for interpreting orders for lab work from providers within The University of Kansas Health System which are entered in the Hospital Information System and orders from outside providers that are presented as a manual order. The Phlebotomist must be able to interpret these orders and accurately identify the correct tube type for each test. The Phlebotomist follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures, and performs positive patient identification for each patient prior to blood draw and confirming patient identification after labeling the tubes. In the ambulatory setting, the Phlebotomist presents labeled tubes to the patient to confirm proper labeling. In the in-patient setting, the Phlebotomist matches the labeled tubes with the patient's wristband. The Phlebotomist understands the importance of all pre-analytical variables such as positive patient identification, correct tube types, specimen conditions and integrity and how they affect laboratory results, and participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. The Phlebotomist releases orders out of the Hospital Information System (HIS) and receives specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS); and processes specimens to include centrifugation, aliquoting urine and pouring off plasma or serum if necessary for testing. The Phlebotomist is considered the "face" of the clinical laboratory and is expected to represent the laboratory and themselves in a professional, respectful and courteous manner at all times. The Phlebotomist follows AIDET guidelines for customer service and patient satisfaction. Additionally, the Phlebotomist working in the ambulatory setting must prepare specimens for transport by scanning the bar-coded sample onto a LIS packing list. The Phlebotomist must be able to troubleshoot difficult orders and assist with troubleshooting missing specimens when indicated. This position performs some data entry functions, manages requisitions and answers telephones to assist Laboratory customers. The Phlebotomist must be patient focused and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions * Performs blood draws by venipuncture according to standard protocol, ensuring patient safety and quality specimen collection. * Performs specimen collection using appropriate techniques and adhering to requirements. Position Overview The KU Health Rice Study seeks a highly organized student research assistant to convert print study data sheets into a machine-readable format. The Healthy Rice Study is a diabetes research project that examines how a dietary intervention influences markers of metabolic health over time. Findings will inform practical strategies to reduce diabetes risk in resource-limited settings and contribute to peer-reviewed research. The student research assistant will contribute to the project by preparing study data for analysis under the direction of the Principal Investigators. Study participants have completed clinic visits where trained staff recorded vitals and lab results on print forms. The student assistant will transcribe print forms into a tabular format using Excel or the Qualtrics survey platform. They will attend team meetings and perform quality checks to ensure the dataset is accurate, consistent, and analysis-ready.
