Position Summary:
The Student Event Scheduler will assist in the coordination and scheduling of campus events, ensuring efficient use of campus spaces and resources. This role supports the Facilities Services team by managing event requests, maintaining scheduling systems, and communicating with campus departments and external clients, as requested by supervisor.
Responsibilities/Expectations:
* Review and process event scheduling requests using campus scheduling software
* Communicate with event organizers to confirm logistics, space availability, and setup needs
* Assist in maintaining an accurate calendar of campus events
* Coordinate with Facilities, IT, and other support services to ensure event readiness
* Help identify and resolve scheduling conflicts
* Backup for stage manager for campus events, including audio-visual equipment, microphones, data projection, lighting, event setup
* Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Be a full-time undergraduate student (basic); minimum of 10 hours per week
* Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised.
* Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides low intensity progressive exercise and activity programs to older adult patients as directed by a Physical Therapist and/or responsible Nurse. Care includes intervention to maximize exercise and activity capacity and to promote and maintain patients' optimal activity, mobility, and independence. These services are provided as an adjunct to skilled rehabilitation and designed to decrease the detrimental effects of inactivity. The mobility specialist reports to the director of rehab, physical therapist and overseeing nursing staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical and Communication:
* Provides low intensity progressive exercise and activity programs to older adult patients in a safe and effective manner.
* Employs strategies to gain patient's participation and engagement with activity.
* Follows treatment plans as directed and in accordance with department procedures and standards.
* Monitors patient's response to intervention and able to adapt strategies to meet the individual needs of the patient.
* Maintains good judgment in difficult situations, asks appropriate questions when unsure of assignments, and takes initiative in areas expected of them. Able to work independently without direct supervision.
* Schedules time to maximize patient participation in conjunction with other team members. Records specific activity and treatment times per established procedures.
* Recognizes opportunities to assist the rehabilitation team and takes initiative to provide support.
* Seeks and probes for information from nursing staff relative to the patient's mobility and self-care performance and in accordance with MDS procedures. Conveys gathered information to appropriate nursing and therapy staff.
* Assists in the training of certified nursing assistant staff on the delivery of nursing restorative plans. Enlists support of other nursing leaders or rehabilitation professionals when needed.
* Assists patients with moving in/out of bed, transferring from one surface to another, and walking safely.
* Conveys feedback and information from patient and/or family to therapy and nursing personnel as needed.
* Maintains positive relationships and rapport with co-workers, patients, family members, and building personnel, modeling respectful behavior by exhibiting professionalism with coworkers.
* Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all applicable and established confidentiality standards including all HIPAA rules and regulations.
* Demonstrates and understands the importance of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each patient visitor and staff in all interactions.
* Reports, as appropriate, actual or suspicious activity related to fraud and/or operational abuse of laws, regulations and standards.

Position Summary:
An AHD is an elevated leadership position within Residence Life that serves as a peer leader to the RAs and lives and works in the VCSU Residence Halls. AHDs will report directly to their assigned Hall Director and help to support the halls in which those Hall Director's supervise. AHDs are expected to help build a strong sense of community among the RAs while helping them enforce the policies set forth in the VCSU Student Handbook and the VCSU Residence Hall Handbook. Typical AHD responsibilities include serving in a professional staff on-call rotation, communicating with RAs, assisting their assigned Hall Director with the planning for routine RA responsibilities, and supporting Residence Life programming. Common duties for both AHD positions include:
* Staff Support
AHDs will attend weekly professional staff meetings, weekly building staff meetings, monthly all staff meetings, and a minimum of one program for each RA each semester. This position will also assist with the RA selection process from recruitment to selection and training.
* Availability & Presence
AHDs should be highly visible and available to their RAs. A good rule of thumb is to not be gone more than two weekends a month. All days away must be communicated to Hall Directors. While on campus, AHDs should strive to be approachable, empathetic, and fair so that all RAs feel comfortable seeking them out for questions and guidance. AHDs should make an effort to regularly visit and reach out to RAs.
* Peer Leadership and Mentoring
AHDs should be knowledgeable about VCSU and Valley City resources and refer RAs to these as necessary. AHDs should role model appropriate behavior in the Residence Halls by abiding by all Residence Life and Student Conduct policies and state and federal laws.
* Programming
One AHD will be the Team Lead for the Fall Homecoming Talent Show. The other AHD will be the Team Lead for the Spring Res. Life Carnival.
* Facilities Maintenance
AHDs should encourage RAs to develop a sense of ownership for their community, building, and all residence halls. They will assist RAs with reporting facilities concerns and regularly visit any community spaces in their community (lounges, laundry, bathrooms, etc.) AHDs are expected to develop positive working relationships with Facilities Services employees.
* Accessibility of Digital Information
Procure, create and edit digital content according to NDUS and VCSU digital accessibility standards and policies.
* Policy Enforcement and Liability Management
AHDs will help RAs in confronting and documenting any behaviors that violate the Residence Hall Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, or State/Federal Laws when the RA is not comfortable handling these scenarios independently. 24/7 support is available through the Director for Residence Life, Dean for Student Affairs, Power House and, Valley City Emergency Services.
* Duty Expectations
AHDs should plan on being on-duty one to two weeks per month (depending on the rotation schedule). When on-duty, AHDs will carry the professional staff duty phone 24/7 Monday-Sunday. All calls will be answered and emergencies immediately reported to the appropriate resources. AHDs will be responsible for making sure an RA from each building calls to clock-in each night between 8:45-9:15pm and follow up with any buildings that miss this deadline to make sure on-call responsibilities are being covered in the hall. While on-duty, AHDs must stay within a 30 minute radius of campus during daytime hours (7:00am-9:00pm) and within a 15 minute radius of campus during evening hours (9:00pm-7:00am)
* Time Obligations
An AHD works around 15-20 hours per week. AHDs should only work on-campus jobs, and any second jobs may not conflict with the AHD job or exceed 15 hours per week. AHDs working off-campus jobs must obtain permission in writing. AHDs will arrive approximately two and a half weeks before classes begin in the fall (a half week before RAs arrive) and a few days before classes begin in the spring (one day before the RAs arrive) for training and to prep the halls to open. AHDs will also stay for a day or two after graduation in each semester to help with hall closing. AHDs are asked to contribute to a more limited staffing of the halls over holidays and breaks. Weekly professional staff meetings, weekly residence hall meetings, bi-weekly one-on-ones, and monthly all staff meetings can also be expected.
* Qualifications
* One (1) year of serving as an RA
* Minimal conduct record
* Minimum 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA
