KBR is looking for a Civil Structural Architectural Engineer to independently apply advanced engineering techniques, make decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represent the organization in client meeting to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials in other organizations. You will provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice. Job role is responsible for civil/structural engineering and design at a client site.
This position is located at a client site in Richmond, VA. Relocation can be offered.
Work is expected to be completed on site, with some opportunity for remote work based on project requirements.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Responsible for technical content on construction released structural drawings
Responsible for preparing structural calculations
Responsible for preparing construction specifications
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
10+ years of related experience
Professional Engineer License required for Virginia, or the ability to complete this certification within 6 months
Experience in structural and civil engineering on a client site is preferred
Physical Qualifications
Work is located at a working plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes
Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots
Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.
Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs
May require walking the plant property

**Qualifications:**

Under general supervision, this position monitors un-cleared personnel who come to work on facilities and building equipment, structures, systems and hardware. This role also performs technical and general maintenance work on a variety of facilities and building equipment, systems, structures, and hardware, including air handlers, domestic water, chilled water, hot water, steam, humidification, building exhaust, compressed air, controls, lighting, electrical, security systems, fire systems, etc.
Principal Job Duties:
• Monitor and escort uncleared persons at the facility whether the work is inside or outside the building.
• If/when multiple maintenance activities requiring multiple monitors in the building this position will serve as Building Monitor Lead.
• Provide verbal and written reports regarding pertinent safety, security, facility, or personnel issues/incidents.
• Maintain visual contact and proper line of sight with uncleared personnel at all times.
• Respond professionally and courteously to all personnel.
• Remain alert and attentive at all times to provide appropriate security monitoring of escorted individuals.
• Work around active construction areas and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
