Duties, Responsibilities & Other
In this Sr. Water Resources Engineer role, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the team and will be responsible for coordination and completion of various project elements. The candidate will be responsible for executing project work, producing high quality deliverables, maintaining project schedules, and mentoring junior staff. The candidate will be joining a diverse team with active projects in NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, VA, and DE. This is a great opportunity for increased project and design responsibilities for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience (6 preferred) with water resources related projects.
Provide planning, design, and construction oversight services for DOT, municipal, and private clients in the transportation and civil engineering industry including but not limited to roadway drainage, culvert and bridge hydraulics, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, green infrastructure, and ESD/LID.
Completion of hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling (drainage improvement, watershed evaluation, floodplain modeling)
Design and preparation of construction drawings for various water resources projects. Projects include: drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, bridge and culvert replacement,
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Geopak Drainage, and HEC-RAS required.
Coordinate design development of projects and plans and assisting with technical direction of junior staff
Assist in the development of multiple projects and deliverables, including plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates, within the schedule and budget. These duties will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment. Assignments usually include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawing and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and have a strong understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles.
Required Skills & Required Experience
Experience in stormwater management, design of stormwater quantity and quality control measures, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and watershed modeling
Understanding of hydrologic & hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, HEC-HMS, SWMM
Microstation and Geopak Drainage experience, or similar CAD software.

KCI is seeking a motivated student for a Water Resources Internship to join our team for Summer 2026. Summer interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required during the period from mid-May to the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid-summer and end-of-summer reports/presentations. Responsibilities include:
Assist the team with stormwater modeling, drainage design, and flood studies.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Geotechnical Engineering+ 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
Relevant experience with dams projects, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT.
Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

Minimum Requirements:

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing projects or completing project management activities such as maintain project budgets, schedule, staffing, quality control, and/or client relations.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other
This is a position for a traffic engineer with 2 or more years of relevant experience to work on public and private sector traffic engineering projects. Typical assignments will include traffic modeling, traffic impact analysis reports, traffic signal design, signal timing plans, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) design, signing and striping plans, and corridor studies.
Duties would include the following:
Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans
Prepare Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design
Perform data collection
Perform traffic impact analyses
Prepare traffic and safety studies
Perform traffic analyses
Perform transportation planning studies
Prepare quantity and cost estimates
Prepare written reports
The most qualified candidate will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:
B.S.C.E. degree required
E.I.T. certification required; P.E. preferred
Familiarity with standard references such as the AASHTO Green Book, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Safety Manual and the Highway Capacity Manual
Familiarity with GDOT design standards and guidelines
Computer skills including training in CADD (MICROSTATION, OPEN ROADS), HCS, SYNCHRO/SIM-TRAFFIC, Vistro, VISSIM, SIDRA, Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCEL
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and/or Skills Required:

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

Valid Driver's License

Job Description
AECOM's Water Business Line is seeking a creative, highly talented Area Business Lead- Water/Wastewater for immediate employment at AECOM's Franklin, TN Office with flexibility of having a hybrid schedule. The successful candidate will be leading AECOM's mature and growing water / wastewater practice in Tennessee and support starting a Water practice in the state Alabama. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the region's largest water and wastewater utilities and supports AECOM's Water business to execute transformative projects. AECOM was announced as the Number 1 water firm in the latest ENR rankings.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
* Develops and executes the business growth strategy for the Tennessee market in alignment with regional and national objectives and initiatives.
* Identifies, manages, and participates in key industry events that align with the growth strategy.
* Creates and maintains a robust pipeline of project opportunities as documented and managed in AECOM's client relationship management database.
* Leads key pursuits, proposal reviews and interview preparation.
* Collaborates with a strong and diverse team of capture managers, client account managers, project managers and technical practitioners.
* Manages and provides quality control review of water/wastewater projects.
* Develops talent and support their career planning via AECOM's goal setting and performance management system.
* Serve as Client Account Manager for a few key clients in Tennessee.
* Support operations and project delivery teams in exceeding key project performance goals.
* Apply best practices to project delivery by leveraging technology and standard methodologies of the Technical Practice Network (TPN).
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
* 10 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure design in TN, assessment, and rehabilitation, including treatment, conveyance and pumping systems.
* 5 years of business development experience.
* 7 years of project management experience.
* Professional Engineer in Tennessee or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
* 15 years experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure. design, assessment, and rehabilitation, including treatment, conveyance and pumping systems.
* Demonstrated experience in leading complex municipal Water / Wastewater projects, preferably in TN.
* Experience managing staff and leading multidiscipline project design teams.
* Experience in coordination with regulatory agencies.
* Experience presenting at professional conferences and leading technical workshops.
* Experience leading and mentoring a team of 5+ professionals.
