Part-time Reader
Kean University is seeking a part-time Reader that will work in-person with a faculty member. The Reader will read aloud to the faculty member various printed materials and/or information from a computer screen or other print sources that cannot be read by the adaptive computer equipment and software. The Reader will take dictation when the adaptive computer equipment and software cannot do so and will also organize and file written materials that are incidental to the reading and dictation duties.
This position is temporary and filled on a semester-to-semester basis, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday in-person at the Union campus. Generally, work will be assigned between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Reader's work schedule will vary each semester based on the faculty member's teaching schedule. It is preferred that candidates are available a minimum of 3 full work days per week, contingent upon the faculty member's schedule. Occasional evening or weekend hours may also be required.
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this position is $17.00 per hour. Assists in regularly maintaining the inventory of all equipment, materials and parts required to operate the Grounds department.
Keeps Grounds Supervisor informed about progress and problems on a daily basis or as needed.
Measures, layout and paint lines and designs on athletic fields, parking lots and roadways.
Performs snow removal, sanding and salting operations as needed using vehicles, tractors, shovels, as well as power and hand spreaders.
Recommends materials; prepares required material lists for projects and daily maintenance.
Works from blueprints and sketches.
Regularly checks and reports safety problems. Takes corrective action whenever appropriate.
Responds to unscheduled and emergency service requests.
Assists Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Telecommunications staffs with excavation and maintenance of various underground utilities and building components using backhoes, power and hand tools.
Assists Service Response Team in delivery and set-up of components needed for special events, lining and striping of roadways and parking lots, and installation of University signage.
Interacts with students, parents and other members of the University community in a positive, customer service-oriented style.

Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of grounds keeping experience.
Working knowledge of irrigation systems and ability to perform small repairs (head replacements, broken pipes). .
Must have excellent attendance and work record.
Must have a high degree of attention for detail and care to prevent injury to self and others. Must perform all work in strict accordance with accepted trade practices, code requirements and all safety and good housekeeping requirements.
Be able to read, write and understand oral and written instructions in English, including MSDS directions, chemical product labels, equipment manuals, work orders and be able to carry out work orders as required.
Be able to calculate mathematically.
Be willing and able to work overtime as needed and to respond to emergency calls after working hours.

Physical Requirements:
Must have experience in laying out landscape beds and annual bedding material including basic plant identification skills.
Be able to drive vehicles equipped with standard transmissions.

Must use all required safety and personal protective equipment (including respiratory protection).
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess and maintain a New Jersey 3A/3B Certified Pesticide Applicator's License (Core, 3A and 3B).

Formal education in turf management, landscape contracting, horticulture or a similar field.

The John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Director of Orchestral Studies to lead and cultivate a dynamic orchestral program that serves music majors across multiple concentrations. We seek a visionary conductor, teacher, and collaborator who will inspire students, engage audiences, and contribute to the artistic and intellectual vibrancy of our community.
The successful candidate will provide artistic and administrative leadership for the School's orchestral program, including conducting major ensembles, programming diverse and compelling repertoire, and mentoring student musicians in performance excellence. Teaching responsibilities include applied and ensemble conducting at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as courses in orchestral literature that prepare students for careers as performers, educators, and leaders in the field.
Additional responsibilities include active student recruitment and retention on a regional and national scale, advising and mentoring students to support their academic and professional growth, and contributing to faculty committees and service at both the school and university level. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The AV will work directly with Vivarium managers to ensure the facilities maintains AAALAC accreditation and are compliant with all applicable regulations for the care and maintenance of research animals, preparing and maintaining all requisite records and regulatory forms. The AV will oversee managers who supervise vivarium staff and train personnel in procedures that promote proper animal care and use as required. The AV, with Vivarium managers, will be responsible for monitoring and maintenance of animal colony integrity, including health status, to ensure compliance and research continuity. Quality control reviews of animal integrity will be made available to investigators, users, and senior administration.
The AV will be available to provide ongoing technical expertise and consultation to facility staff and users, as well as IACUC members, and will be thoroughly versed in all practical and administrative aspects of surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia, and biosafety as required by research activity. The AV must be familiar with institutional and federal guidelines for the care and use of animals and will be the primary formal point of contact for dealing with violations, occupational health and safety issues and facility security. The AV will engage users in dialogue on all issues that impact on research compliance and productivity, and will serve as a conduit for dialogue between users and senior administration.
REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess a D.V.M/V.M.D. degree. Candidates must be licensed to practice in the state of NJ or be eligible to obtain licensure in NJ within a reasonable amount of time. ACLAM board certified or eligible for veterinary candidates is desirable. Experience in a research animal facility setting is a must, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Operating Engineer I
Under the supervision of the Engineer-in Charge, Chief Operating Engineer and/or Facilities Management, responsibilities include the maintenance and operation of various steam plant systems throughout the University campus, including high pressure steam boilers, low pressure steam boilers and related auxiliary equipment; and performing related work as required.
Operating Engineers may be exposed to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Job Description
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Director is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day services provided by the Office of Global Engagement to international students and scholars, immigration compliance, and staff management. The Director assists with the development and implementation of a strategic plan to better support students, as well as identify and develop new opportunities for educating the entire campus community about the needs of international students. The position serves as a liaison between administrative and academic units and the Office of Global Engagement, working as a strong advocate for international students and scholars. In addition, the Director is responsible for providing immigration advisement for F-1 and J-1 students at the University.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as DSO and ARO for F-1 and J-1 students and scholars.
Provide advisement and counsel on immigration matters
Process any documentation related to students' or scholars' immigration records, including but not limited to extension requests, full-time enrollment verification, changes in level, SEVIS registration, OPT/CPT requests, academic training requests, record validation, and other related matters.
Support the Office of Global Engagement with compliance efforts, including but not limited to internal audits to evaluate the efficacy of existing processes and implement changes if needed.
In the absence of the Assistant Vice President, serve as the primary contact for crisis responses related to international students and scholars.
Lead the development and day-to-day operation of short-term programs (high school summer program, English as a second language, etc.).
Lead the review of existing office processes and procedures; develop new processes and procedures when appropriate, to ensure that the University remains in compliance at all times.
Conduct workshops and/or webinars to current students and scholars on topics related to their immigration status.
Lead the planning and execution of the international student orientation program and any other office-sponsored events.
Oversee the department's social media channels and website to support the promotion of cultural events sponsored by the office or other units on campus.
Manage professional staff and student workers.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
Master's degree in higher education, international education, or related field.
