    Classified/GROUNDS KEEPER The Groundskeeper will maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, stair paths, retaining walls and turf. The Groundskeeper will employ insecticides, chemical sprays, fertilizers and mulches to optimize the condition of greenery. You will keep grounds free from trash, litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases and harmful insects. You will maintain equipment and supplies, and order as needed. To be successful in this role you will need to ensure grounds are pleasant-both visually and operatively-at all times, while maintaining equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Incumbent performs a majority of the following duties) Specific Duties Planting shrubs, trees, seed and fertilize lawns as directed, prepare flower beds for planting and areas for seeding, sod and sowing of grass seed. Trimming trees and shrubs; mowing grass and performing other landscaping tasks. Equipment operation as related to assigned tasks. Spraying insecticides and pesticides, as directed. Performing preventive maintenance, adjustments and repairs on grounds equipment. Maintaining record of performed services. Performing equipment safety checks. Cleaning up storm or weather related damages, as directed. Salt spreading and/or snow removal. Ability to work outside exposed to variable weather conditions and skin irritants (i.e. poison ivy, poison oak, etc.). Assisting in preventative maintenance district-wide as directed. Performing other assigned duties, as requested. Must possess insecticide and pesticide license within 1 year from date of hire. Knowledge & Experience Mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of the type of oils and lubricants used in different equipment. Skill in lubricating equipment. Working knowledge of tractors, mowers, and other mechanical equipment. Ability to operate required equipment. Ability to carry out written and oral instructions. Skill in use of hand tools. Some knowledge of insecticides, fungicides, pesticides and fertilizers. Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform strenuous manual labor under varying conditions. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS Physical attributes include walking, standing, bending, reaching, stacking, and/or carrying items. Ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work in this classification involves responsibility for performing a variety of tasks to ensure proper care and upkeep of building grounds, special purpose equipment used in or installed, and groundskeeping. Set up and take down Christmas trees and decorations at all dealership locations and residences. Provide basic pet care including vacuuming bedding, brushing, feeding, bathing, and waste removal. Clean garages and wash vehicles. Clean and maintain outdoor lighting fixtures. Requirements Must be able to lift to 75 lbs. Regularly works outdoors and is exposed to various weather conditions. Required to wear protective or safety equipment, including safety shoes, gloves, glasses, and hearing protection. Frequent face-to-face interactions with team members and supervisors. Exposure to contaminants, minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings. Regular use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
