Key responsibilities include: Serving as the regulatory lead for multiple associations in the food industry, overseeing day-to-day execution of the policy agenda, offering strategic guidance on association priorities. Monitoring, evaluating, interpreting, and summarizing complex regulatory information related to food products of interest to clients. Communicating directly with clients and key stakeholders, including regulators and policymakers, on critical issues impacting clients. Essential Functions Lead execution of priorities for regulatory committees and working groups for multiple food association clients representing industry food categories and/or ingredients. This role includes the development of strategic action plans, addressing specific industry issues, and collaborating with internal teams and client members to achieve objectives. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage regulatory and government affairs issue scope, including development of client materials in relation to activity from federal agencies (e.g., regulatory comments). Develop accurate comment letters influencing policies based on analysis of current and proposed regulations, ensuring comments are incorporated to policies. Engage policymakers to clarify or refine client comments, as needed. Provide input on strategy for client activities and priorities to respond to dynamic policy environment. Identify and analyze emerging issues in federal and state food and nutrition policy, including priority client objectives and their alignment with Administration and state legislature interests. Manage relationships with policymakers and key stakeholders, including appropriate Administration officials and professional organizations to promote regulatory agenda and execute strategic objectives. Prepare materials for clients to be utilized in official meetings. Brief stakeholders, client leadership, and government affairs colleagues on priorities for federal advocacy. Attend meetings with federal agency staff, public policy or congressional hearings, briefings, coalition meetings, and other events to represent association clients and develop or circulate reports. Identify and analyze emerging issues in proposed federal and state policy, including priority client advocacy objectives. Build relationships with external organizations including identifying potential stakeholders or organizing conference participants and speakers. Communicate frequently with clients and internal team to meet deadlines and recommend actions, as needed. Lead multiple client regulatory committees, workgroups, and workstreams to direct progress for strategic priorities. May include other responsibilities as assigned. Other duties that align with the mission and vision of the company, as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in a discipline related to public policy or a related field. Master's degree a plus. 8-10 years experience working in Congress, federal agencies, consulting firms, trade associations, or specialty societies on federal regulatory issues, including experience with food and nutrition issues. Strong expertise regarding federal regulatory policy is a must. Deep understanding of current domestic affairs and their political implications is also preferred. Knowledge of state regulatory and policy activity a plus. Food industry experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills crucial for success, including relationship building and maintenance skills, demonstrating ability to act as a positive team player. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. A proven self-starter with the ability to direct and manage projects is ideal. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills, which will aid in a multi-task oriented work environment. Computer experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, with a “Can Do” approach to diverse software packages. Willingness to travel. Supervision Requirements May supervise Associate Account Executive. If so, carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The Domestic Violence Program Director is responsible for overseeing operations of all services, including supervision of the 24-hour staff team and development and oversight of the department budget. The Director is also part of the on-call team evenings and weekends one to two weeks per month and provides back up support to supervisory on-call staff as needed. On-call coverage includes determining program staffing levels, providing staff supervision, and responding to emergency personnel including law enforcement, emergency medical providers and the fire department during client and building emergencies. 25% - Provide leadership, oversight and support to facilitate day-to-day operations, strategic planning and delivery of services within Broadview - including the emergency shelter, transitional housing, children and youth programs, and other support services. Key Responsibilities The following describes the critical functions of the role but does not list all job responsibilities and duties. Portfolio management: Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 20 corporate partners and prospects annually, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, data tracking, and stewardship. Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 50 donors and prospects, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, data tracking, and stewardship. Serve as one of LT's front-line fundraisers by directly engaging current and potential donors and partners with the goal of increasing financial support, major gifts, and planned gifts while building long-term relationships and meeting annual revenue targets. Conduct prospect research on potential donors and provide recommendations on donor prospects. Collaborate with LT team in portfolio management reviews and planning. Enlist and prepare Executive Director, board members and select LT alumni in the cultivation and solicitation of donors, partners and prospects. Create new ways of engaging with corporate partners and individual donors in line with their priorities. Annual Development Plan: Build and manage the annual development plan, including setting financial and non-financial goals and metrics and managing activities. Work with the Executive Director to manage revenue projection as well as pledges and fulfillments. Collaborate with LT team to establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of giving. Relationship building & networking: Nurture and cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with corporate partners and individual donors. Serve as an ambassador to the LT community and other partners; represent the organization at networking and community events. Collaborate on planning and execution of fundraising events (3 per year) and campaigns (3 per year). Engage the LT Resource Development Committee comprised of volunteers and provide updates to LT Board, as needed. Fundraising Communications and Systems: Contribute to LT's customer relationship management system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of donor records. Create compelling donor strategy documents, proposals, briefing memos, stewardship/cultivation reports, and other correspondence as necessary. Identify and implement ways to strengthen LT's fundraising systems, processes, and capacity. Help ensure proper donor recognition in all publications and oversee accurate donor lists for those publications. Team player: Support the organization in other matters as assigned, including fostering a healthy and inclusive team culture, supporting team members on other events and activities, and improving on team processes. Work Environment At Leadership Tomorrow, we embrace a hybrid work model that values both collaboration and autonomy. This role combines remote work with regular in-person presence in our downtown Seattle office and at events or meetings throughout the Puget Sound region (including King, Kitsap, Thurston, Pierce, and Snohomish counties). Occasional regional travel, as well as early morning, evening, or weekend commitments, may be required. Skills and Qualifications Passion for the mission of Leadership Tomorrow and a belief that community leadership matters. 4-5 years of experience in development work, or comparable nonprofit or sales/marketing roles (e.g., prospect identification and relationship building). Prior experience in annual giving or corporate foundation relation is highly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to build and maintain relationships inside and outside the organization, especially with corporate partners and individual donors. Experience in crafting clear, concise, and compelling funding proposals and reports to donors. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in line with LT values. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and to work calmly under pressure of deadlines. Experience designing and executing engaging fundraising events and campaigns. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to collect, organize and analyze data related to donor giving. Experience with fundraising software and online giving platforms preferred; our team uses Neon and Constant Contact. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and donor database software. Interest and experience in working collaboratively with colleagues from varied backgrounds and interacting with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, views, and positions. Exercise good judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including traveling to and attending events that take place in the evening or on occasional weekends, as needed around the Puget Sound. Maintain punctual and regular attendance. Employment Details The Chamber and Leadership Tomorrow are committed to internal and market equity. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $99,000 annually, based on experience, plus a quarterly performance-based bonus.
