**Job Title:** **Sample Runner** The Sample Runner is an entry-level role that supports manufacturing operations by collecting and delivering samples from both in-plant and off-site distribution terminals to the laboratory for analysis. Training is provided; no prior lab or sampling experience is required. A company vehicle is provided for all sample collection duties.
**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Accurately documents sample pickup time, location, and material type.

**Position Overview**
The Environmental Scientist I supports the Environmental Services Division by executing environmental compliance and field-based tasks under the guidance of a Project Manager. This role is critical to the 2026 renewal cycle of multiple **Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)** and **Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)** plans across Texas.
This position offers a hands-on, field-oriented opportunity to work directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams while gaining valuable experience in environmental compliance, inspections, and technical plan development.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Conduct field evaluations at industrial facilities throughout Texas, including collecting stormwater feature data, measuring secondary containment, and identifying storage tank volumes
+ Perform compliance inspections, document findings, collect photographic evidence, and maintain inventories of oil-containing materials
+ Interpret technical and field data to draft, renew, and update SWPPP and SPCC plans using web-based software
+ Coordinate mapping and drafting requests; annotate site features and locations using tools such as Google Earth
+ Schedule and coordinate site visits directly with clients while meeting project timelines and budgets
+ Track project data and deliverables using Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools
+ Apply independent judgment within established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
+ Collaborate with Project Managers, clients, and internal teams to ensure high-quality service and regulatory compliance
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, or a related field
+ 0-3 years of related professional or internship experience
+ Basic understanding of the Clean Water Act; familiarity with SWPPP and SPCC plans preferred
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Earth
+ Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to volume estimation and data analysis
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
+ Ability to operate geographic or scientific field data collection equipment
**Nice-to-Have Skills**
+ Experience with environmental compliance inspections
+ Exposure to GIS or basic mapping tools
+ Knowledge of Texas environmental regulations and agencies
**Physical & Travel Requirements**
+ Willingness to travel frequently and overnight throughout Texas
