Kelly Engineering is seeking an **Electrical Designer (EPLAN)** for a long-term contract-to-hire position at our industrial automation integrator client in Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
This role requires someone with true design expertise who can develop complete automation system hardware solutions from concept through implementation.
**Responsibilities**
+ Design and develop automation system hardware using EPLAN (strong experience required).
+ Perform load calculations for 24V systems and ensure proper circuit protection.
+ Select and integrate hardware components for automation projects.
+ Design electrical panels, layouts, and wiring diagrams.
+ Configure Ethernet daisy-chaining for networked devices.
+ Conduct pneumatic calculations for system integration.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support project delivery.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable industry and client standards (GM, Ford, etc.).
**Qualifications**
+ Strong hands-on experience with EPLAN (GM-specific) - must be a true designer, not just a drafter.
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical; Ford EPLAN experience is a plus.
+ Solid knowledge of circuit design, power distribution, and control panel layouts.
+ Understanding of automation hardware selection and integration.
+ Experience with load calculations, circuit protection, and pneumatic systems.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

+ Work from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions to define and code tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, and occasional profiling and contouring.
+ Check parts for conformance to specifications, ensuring precision and quality.
+ May operate more than one unit simultaneously.
