This role focuses on One Touch Make Ready (OTMR) work on existing aerial telecommunications infrastructure throughout the Houston area. You will be responsible for transferring telecom attachments between poles, performing strand-related tasks, and ensuring the safe, compliant handling of existing lines. The ideal candidate has strong strand experience, deep knowledge of aerial telecom work, and a commitment to safety, quality, and accountability. You will report directly to a Telecommunications Foreman and work as part of a team that values professionalism and craftsmanship. **Role Essentials (What This Job Involves Daily)** + All work is performed on existing lines - this role does not include splicing or new cable construction. + Regularly transfer telecom attachments from an old pole to a new pole (OTMR). + Occasionally install new strand, but never new cable. + Conduct strand work; strong strand experience is highly preferred. + Use company-provided hand tools, power tools, and aerial construction tools daily. + Work around electrical infrastructure, but no contact is made with energized ("hot") electrical wires. + Perform your own pole grounding following utility and safety standards. + Work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks. + Travel locally from site to site within the Houston market. **What You'll Do** + Perform OTMR work, transferring and configuring telecom attachments (fiber, coax, copper). + Ensure full compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies. + Identify hazards and implement risk-mitigation practices for yourself and your crew. + Participate in daily JSA meetings and maintain clear communication with the team. + Deliver high-quality work that meets utility specifications and construction standards. + Maintain accurate field documentation and reporting. + Demonstrate leadership through safe practices and professional conduct. + Support storm-response efforts as needed (callouts, standby, overtime). **What We're Looking For** **Minimum Qualifications (Required)** + 2-8 years of experience as a telecommunications lineman in power or telecom construction. + Strong background in **aerial telecom construction** , especially strand and transfer work. + Experience working on or near utility infrastructure and energized environments. + Proficiency operating and working from an aerial lift (bucket truck). + Ability to work at heights, lift heavy equipment, and perform demanding physical labor. + Knowledge of OSHA standards, utility safety practices, and regulatory requirements. + Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. **Why Join Us?** + Consistent Monday-Friday schedule. + Competitive pay. + All work local to the Houston market- **travel is rare and only in extreme circumstances** . + Work with a respected, safety-focused utility contractor. + Opportunities for skill development and long-term career growth. The overall responsibility of the position is to design, develop, and optimize the chemical and physical steps of extracting and purifying iodine from sources like brines, caliche, and specialty applications. **Responsibilities** : + Design and improve processes and custom equipment used for iodine and iodine compounds production, from raw extraction to purified output + Manage and refine the blow-out process to recover iodine from brines, including acidification and oxidation + Manage processes to achieve high-purity iodine, often involving techniques like separating iodine from brine and then solidifying it in a prill tower + Develop processes for other applications, such as the sulfur-iodine water-splitting cycle for hydrogen production and the process for creating ultrapure titanium through the decomposition of titanium iodides in brine water + Analyze process data, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement continuous improvements for process efficiency, safety, and product quality + Collaborate with plant engineers, R&D, and maintenance teams to specify, scale, and validate new equipment and technologies **Requirements:** + PhD (1+ year of experience), MS (2+ years of experience), or BS (4+ years of experience) Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field + Applicable experience in the field of iodine extraction and purification from brines or additional sources + Expertise in designing, piloting, and scaling chemical production systems + Overall strong knowledge of chemical process engineering principles, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and process control + Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment Consultants working remotely will be considered for this role.
