RESPONSIBILITIES
* Obtains, evaluates, and records patient history in medical file.
* Obtains and measures vital signs and records information on patients' charts.
* Screens patients according to NTACHC protocols (i.e. obtaining vital signs, height, weight, vision/hearing testing) and any other procedures directed by the supervising provider/clinical coordinator, or nurse.
* Assists in the examination of patients under the direction of a physician.
* Explains treatment procedures to patients.
* Prepares and administers oral medications and routine immunizations, under supervision of licensed clinical staff.
* Performs routine diagnostic and laboratory tests.
* Respond to request for follow-up, manage tasks in NextGen.
* Performs accurate charting in medical record in accordance with NTACHC policies and procedures.
* Provide assistance to nurses, medical assistants and providers as needed.
* Maintain exam room and work areas (i.e. keeping well-stocked, orderly and clean, to include disinfecting exam tables between patients as per infection control policy.)
* Maintain strict infection control (i.e., sterilizing instruments, performing procedures, needle disposal, etc.).
* Perform phlebotomy/ finger stick as permitted by training.
* Administers injections according to position requirements (i.e., subcutaneous, intramuscular and intradermal injections).
* Perform procedures, as ordered (i.e., EKGs, nebulizer treatments, pulse oximeter, ear lavages, etc.).
* Able to accurately make/cancel/reschedule appointments in the computer appointment system. Able to follow-up on appointment to determine patient compliance and contract patients to reschedule (no-show policy)
* Understand all emergency protocols and respond accordingly.

Responsibilities
Medical Assistant I provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN.
Medical Assistant II/III provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN. This position requires additional duties which include administration of injectables and or other high level skill performance.

Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED

* Knowledge of medical terminology, medical assistant/outpatient care tasks, and customer service concepts
* Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, and operate basic medical equipment
* BLS - American Heart Association
* One of the following licenses and certifications:

Responsibilities:
* Assist in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol
* Collect and document vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with complete accuracy
* Document current medications, allergies, and other information in the electronic health record
* Prepare patients for examination and assist provider, as directed, during treatments, examinations, and testing as directed by the provider
* Document all interventions per practice protocol
* Call in and/or send electronic prescription refills as directed
* Assist provider during office emergency patient care
* Keep rooms stocked with supplies and notify managers when supplies are low
* Participate as a member of the care team, working with each member of the team to meet the goals of the patient, and participate in daily huddles and monthly staff meetings
* Coordinate patient care by following up on lab results, ER visits, et cetera
* Identify patients eligible for Vaccines for Children program and follow procedures for accurate documentation and management
* Assess patient's eligibility for referral by verifying coverage with payer prior to initiate referral
* Manage the outstanding orders report and lab error work queue to assure results are received
* Provide superb customer service
