The Auto Detail Tech is responsible for providing customers with quality reconditioning services in a timely and efficient manner. The Auto Detail Tech reconditions used vehicles by physically cleaning every required facet of the vehicle in preparing it for auction. The Auto Detail Tech exhibits superior customer service at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for wearing and using the proper safety equipment.
Responsible for using the appropriate tools to remove decals and stickers as required.
Responsible for evaluating vehicles and determining if license plates/plate brackets and writing on windows of vehicles need to be removed and placed in designated containers.
Responsible for maintaining the flow of shop production.
Responsible for maintaining a standard of quality.
Contributes to and encourages others to demonstrate a team focused, values-based service culture throughout the company.
Contributes to effective operations by providing support where and when as needed on sale/customer promotion dates.
Maintains confidentiality of all records regarding employee and/or customer information.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Skills: Should be highly organized, self-motivated, team player and self-disciplined. Highly customer service orientated. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Environment:
Those working in this position are subject to temperature changes, all types of weather conditions, elevated noise levels and at times fumes and odors associated with vehicle exhaust at times.

Job Description
This position ensures that vehicles sent to the Detail Shop are cleaned and detailed to sale condition according to customer specifications and Auction standards by inspecting vehicles and work areas upon completion of reconditioning work.
Job Responsibilities:
Inspect and verify that quality of detail/reconditioning work performed is in accordance to customer specifications and contract standards. Examine visually and by touch if necessary. Track all vehicles entering and exiting the lanes using a detail sheets.
Check wash bay steps by inspecting trunk jambs, looking for grease on hinges, bugs, fender wells and lower splash shields, etc.
Check interior cleaning steps by inspecting ashtrays, dashboards, panels, vinyl, windows, carpets and upholstery, and making sure debris is removed, etc.
Check buffing steps by verifying that dressing was properly applied to the engine and tires and that the vehicle was waxed, buffed and polished to appropriate standards.
Check final touch-up by inspecting windows, bumpers, moldings, wax, etc.
Reject vehicles not meeting standards and return to detail shop for redo. Generate appropriate reports and re-inspect problem vehicles to ensure quality standards are met.
Ensure employees have proper equipment and are properly trained in its use.
Ensure wash bays and other work areas are cleaned at the end of the workday and/or throughout if necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, including driving vehicle into building and to proper clean car staging area, occasional sale day driving.
May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate
Qualifications:
Minimum-
Generally, less than 2 years' experience in a related field
Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required
Preferred-
Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application processes, and associated repair procedures (preferred but not required).
Drug Testing
To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.

Clean and detail vehicles
Inspect the finished product
Uses various types of cleaning equipment and solutions.
Details vehicle according to the customer's specific instructions.
Shampoos carpets and upholstery.
Vacuums floors and seats.
Cleans and vacuums the trunk or rear hatch area.
Cleans out ashtrays and cup holders.
Conditions vinyl and leather.
Cleans all trash, debris and dirt from the interior of the vehicle.
Uses special foams and detergents designed for specific types of microfibers
Polishes the dashboard, steering wheel, trims and moldings inside the vehicle.
Cleans door frames and instrument panels.
Cleans all dirt, grease and tar from the exterior of the vehicle.
Reconditions the vehicle's exterior.
Cleans all glass on the vehicle, inside and out, with the appropriate type of rag and cleaning solution.
Does rock chip repairs when needed.
Cleans all mirrors with the proper substance.
Removes grease from the engine and other parts under the hood. •
Waxes and buffs vehicle after washing.
Polishes the exterior chrome and all trim on the exterior of the vehicle using special chrome cleaners.
Uses air compressors and special equipment to dry the inside and outside surfaces.
Applies chemicals to surfaces to protect against spots and stains.
Uses various paints, waxes, and dyes to protect the leather part of vehicle's interior.
Uses hoses and pumps for washing and rinsing vehicles.
Dries floor mats.
Cleans and polishes wheel rims and makes them sparkle.
Cleans the headlights, brake lights and taillights making them brighter.
Fixes minor scratches and chips with touch-up vehicle paint.
Keeps records and completes checklists on every vehicle.

Job Responsibilities:

Review monthly financial statement and provide recommendations to upper management on how to maximize profitability and efficiency.
Supervise the proper staging, flow and inspection of vehicles processed through the detail shop operation to meet customer requirements and timely completion of available vehicles.
Oversee daily operation and maintenance of detail shop equipment.
Establish production goals for detail shop employees and determine manpower levels and scheduled based on anticipated business volume.
Requisition equipment, materials and supplies for the shop and oversee maintenance and protection of shop equipment. Control the use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Provide and maintain a safe work environment by explaining, monitoring, and enforcing required Auction safety procedures and complying with the OSHA requirements.
Communicate, discuss, and resolve reconditioning goals, results and problems with management and work with management in preparing the budget as it relates to the detail shop functions.
Maintain and develop detail shop staff and their professional and technical knowledge by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and by providing educational opportunities.
Review Kronos for missing punches, proper posting of time off, department transfers. Submit any necessary paperwork to the ESC for timely processing.
Counsel and discipline employees as necessary. Plan, monitor, and evaluate job performance, and conduct performance appraisals.

Retrieve Service Customer Vehicles
Provide a Quality Courtesy Wash for Service Customer Vehicles
Provide a Quality Pre-Delivery Wash for Sales Customers
Provide a Quality Detail for Trades in preparation for Front Line Marketing
Back up team members when needed
Miscellaneous duties as assigned
