About the Position
The OperationsSupervisor is responsible for directing the work of associates in the warehouse/distribution environment. This position is responsible for the safety and quality of work for departments and areas of responsibility.
Functions
* Determine work volume, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow to ensure maximum cost effectiveness within the department.
* Assign duties and examine work for quality, neatness, and conformity to policies and procedures.
* Schedule job assignments for periodic and/or special inventories.
* Monitor, direct, and (when necessary), perform, the accurate shipping of outbound orders.
* Issue written and oral instructions to associates as needed or required.
* Ensure associate accountability in accordance with corporate standard operating procedures.
* Work to maintain harmony among associates and resolve grievances.
* Manage employee time including edits and corrections
* Mentor and coach associates, including corrective actions as well as performance evaluations.
* Assume responsibility for monitoring zoning and product database development during the receiving process.
* Perform training of policies, procedures, and Standard Works to ensure processes are followed.
* Assist Safety Advocate with all aspects of Safety Program and participate on the Safety Committee.
* Assist in the development of processes and process improvements.
* Misc. tasks as assigned by the General Manager
Qualifications
* Bachelor degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college; or equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Minimum of three years of experience in warehousing, distribution, or related required.
* Minimum of six months supervisory experience
* PC and computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Provides feedback to management on the status of overall operations.
Secondary Job Duties: Handles the process of coordinating and contracting new drivers, including but not limited to placing advertisements, answering ad responses, interviewing potential drivers, running background checks, and conducting orientation for new drivers. Acts as a liaison between the drivers and management and helps to resolve any issues. Maintains contact with the operations managers to stay alert as to the needs for new drivers.
Education/Experience Preferred but not required: College degree and 2+ year's managerial experience in Transportation, Courier, or Distribution.
Skills Required: Ability to plan and carry out daily agenda with limited supervision, proven ability to multitask, leadership experience, highly developed organizational skills, ability to interact with employees at a variety of levels, excellent communication skills, rapid response to issues, attention to detail, ability to communicate with drivers on a routine basis.

Key responsibilities may include:
Leading safety briefings and ensuring compliance with Federal Railroad Administration and BNSF rules as well as conducting safety meetings, investigate accidents, monitor costs, and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Facilitating crew discussions on safety, managing compliance with attendance policies, and conducting operational audits while riding trains.
Assisting crews with personnel paperwork, vacation requests, and providing transportation for timely operations.

Works with Inventory Control to ensure the highest level of inventory accuracy possible.
Manages payroll of department.
Advises employees on handling of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
Issues written and oral instructions.
Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed.
Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
Position is full-time and on-site.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 20+ employees in the area of Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range:
$60k - $65k annually
*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
