ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to the following: * Follow lab S.O.P.'s as well as adhere to all winery safety protocols * Daily set up and calibration of lab equipment * Preventative maintenance of lab equipment when needed * Effectively and efficiently perform routine wine analyses as well as communicate results to the appropriate teams * Accurately pull samples from tanks and barrels * Prepare samples for analysis * Log all samples and results to online databases BIMS and LIMS * Review results and re-run samples as needed * Set up bench trials, filterability tests, cold stability tests, and heat stability tests as needed * Responsible for glass inspection and quality control during bottling * Monitor tank and barrel fermentations throughout harvest * Participate in training of harvest interns * Communicate and work well with the lab manager, lab staff, and other departments * Participate in general housekeeping to maintain the cleanliness of the lab JOB REQUIREMENTS: Essential Skills, Experience, and Education * A degree or coursework in Enology or other scientific fields is required. * Previous winery and/or lab experience is preferred. * This position requires excellent oral and written communication, computer proficiency, and organizational skills. * Availability to work flexible shifts and overtime during harvest is required. Physical Requirements: * An ability to stand for long periods of time, reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 50 pounds of weight (a case of wine). * Must successfully complete post-offer pre-employment physical.
