General Counsel
Monroe, WA
Job Brief - Senior Legal Counsel / Litigation Lead (NFC National Facility Contractors) NFC National Facility Contractors is seeking a seasoned and battle-tested Legal Counsel to lead our litigation, contract enforcement, and legal strategy nationwide. This is not a compliance desk role - this is a seat at the table with executive leadership, driving outcomes in high-value disputes and shaping the company's legal posture across multiple states and service lines.
We're looking for a litigator's litigator - someone who can read a contract and see ten moves ahead, who thrives under pressure, and who wins. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of hands-on litigation experience, a commanding presence in negotiation and the courtroom, and a business-minded approach that aligns with NFC's entrepreneurial and execution-driven culture.
Responsibilities
* Lead all litigation, arbitration, and major dispute resolution efforts across the U.S., including contract disputes, construction claims, lien enforcement, labor issues, and risk defense.
* Develop and execute legal strategies that win - leveraging leverage points, timing, and fact patterns to secure favorable settlements or judgments.
* Partner directly with executive leadership (CEO, President, CFO) to advise on business risk, legal exposure, and offensive strategy.
* Draft and enforce contracts, subcontracts, and master service agreements, ensuring clarity, protection, and legal advantage in all terms.
* Oversee outside counsel and hold them accountable for results, efficiency, and alignment with NFC's business goals.
* Investigate and resolve disputes early to minimize exposure while maintaining firm control over outcome and optics.
* Protect the company's intellectual property, trade secrets, and contractual interests across all brands and regions.
* Drive internal governance discipline, ensuring all business units follow risk management, documentation, and communication protocols that strengthen our legal standing.
* Represent the company in high-stakes negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations with a focus on speed, leverage, and results.
* Stay ahead of regulatory and statutory changes in construction law, labor law, and multi-state contracting to keep NFC's operations bulletproof.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Minimum 10 years of progressive litigation experience, with a proven track record of winning commercial and construction cases.
* Licensed attorney (JD required) in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; multi-state or federal court experience preferred.
* Deep expertise in construction, contracts, lien law, employment, and corporate risk.
* Demonstrated success in developing offensive and defensive legal strategies that yield measurable business wins.
* Commanding negotiation and courtroom presence - confident, persuasive, and precise.
* Strong analytical mind with business acumen; understands P&L, leverage, and financial implications of legal decisions.
* High integrity, zero-drama, execution-oriented mindset - committed to winning the right way.
* Experience managing outside counsel and coordinating multi-jurisdictional matters.
* Excellent communication skills - able to distill complexity into clear, actionable strategy.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This is a role for a strategic litigator, not a compliance monitor. You know how to take initiative, how to protect your company's flank, and how to go on offense when required. You've led major cases, managed external counsel, and built winning narratives that move judges, juries, and boards alike.
You'll join an elite, fast-moving executive team at NFC - a national contractor managing multi-million-dollar projects and client portfolios with Fortune 500 brands. You'll have the freedom to build legal strategy your way, with the backing of a leadership team that values decisiveness, preparation, and results.
