    Substitute/Substitute Teacher Assistant Date Available: Immediately Closing Date: 05/31/2026 Moorestown Township Public Schools Moorestown NJ Title: Substitute Paraprofessional Building: District Buildings Salary Guide: MTPS BOE Approved Daily Rate Benefits: Not Eligible Position Summary: The Paraprofessional position assists the certified staff members in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social-emotional, behavioral and intellectual development of all students. This position is an integral part of the educational team because of the support given to the students to promote achievement and success while in school. Qualifications: High School Diploma or above. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with children and adults. Ability to perform assigned duties. Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions. Understanding of child growth and development as applied to the diverse needs of students. Knowledge and ability to use technology and related software. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Performance Responsibilities: Supports and assists the classroom teacher in the use of all print and electronic materials for instruction. ?Provides academic assistance to students under the direction of the classroom teacher. Provide prompting, cueing, and redirecting student participation to the tasks assigned. Helps students who are absent or who need additional assistance with work assignments. Works with individual children or small groups in re-teaching, reinforcing and reviewing after the teacher(s) has (have) provided the initial instruction. Supports the teacher(s) disciplinary strategies and monitors the classroom if the teacher leaves for brief periods. Provides direct assistance to classroom teachers in maintaining a neat, orderly classroom and assisting in programs such as health/physical education and related arts. Adapt to classroom activities and assignments to serve the purpose of reinforcing classroom objectives. Arranges and supervises indoor and outdoor activities. Observe students for changes in behavior or physical health and report observations to the teacher. Performs clerical duties including taking attendance, typing, copying and keeping records of non-confidential data. Assists in activities of self-care for students. Monitors behavior of students in the lunchroom. Ensure all activities conform to building and district guidelines Maintain confidentiality specific to students and families Assist with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch and/or field trips as assigned. Willingness to support students with behavior plan that may include such actions as biting, hitting, punching. Prepares bulletin boards. Must be physically able to bend and lift to assist students with toileting, feeding and ambulating skills as needed. May assist in maintaining decorum in the cafeteria, playground, study halls, gym, and locker rooms. Supervises children to and from the buses as required.Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the principal or designee Technology Skills: Evaluation of Performance: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education policy. Physical Demands: Paraprofessionals may, at any time, be reassigned to another location or student(s) based on district and student needs. The physical demands of this position include but are not limited to bending, pushing, and moving. Staff members must be able to walk for extended distances and accompany students as needed. lifting may include supporting students during toileting or moving from one space to another. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment and classroom learning tools. Personal care for students may be required, this includes but is not limited to, feeding, toileting, other tasks involving cleanliness for a student. Moving quickly may be required to support students who may elope. Clarity of vision at varying distances to monitor student's behavior during classroom activities. Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities may also be required. The physical demands described in this are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
