ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develops and executes complex print-ready artwork, including technical and scientific illustrations, graphs, charts, and digitized graphics for publications, presentations, and other media.
Creates and oversees electronically designed page layouts and web-based graphics, ensuring alignment with project objectives and user needs.
Collaborates with faculty and staff to assess project goals, budget considerations, and deadlines, offering strategic guidance on design solutions.
Oversees the printing production process, including writing specifications, selecting materials, inspecting proofs for accuracy, and recommending external contractors as necessary.
Provides copywriting and editing support for design projects, which may include press releases and other communication materials.
Manages digital assets and may maintain a graphics or photographic library to streamline project workflows and enhance resource accessibility.
Offers technical computer support, including software installation and troubleshooting, to optimize design-related operations.
Coordinates and leads team efforts, delegating tasks and ensuring project milestones are met effectively.

He/she will be a key member of the Center for Sustainable Shrimp Aquaculture Production, and will be involved in aquaculture production research including such topics as shrimp husbandry, recirculating aquaculture systems, filtration technologies, water quality dynamics, stable isotope dynamics, nutritional efficiencies, aquaponics, microbial ecology, and systems management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist the PI and other supporting staff in conducting experiments; mentor, supervise and lead high school, undergraduate and graduate students in a professional and respectful manner.
Assist the PI and implement Evans Allen research projects, and externally-funded projects.
The incumbent will conduct collaborative and independent research to help optimize production dynamics and profitability of sustainable aquaculture systems.
The incumbent will help manage laboratory and field spaces in a professional manner.
Other duties include care and feeding of fish and shrimp, monitoring animal health and routine monitoring of water quality parameters, building systems, plumbing, carpentry, and general labor

Minimum Education Requirements
* Master of Science degree in a related field of work.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
* Two years of related work experience.
* Pleasant, proactive personality with the ability to handle demanding situations, quickly adapt to address changing circumstances and personalities, and work as an individual or team
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, supervisory, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
* Problem solving ability to troubleshoot deficiencies, identify corrective actions, evaluate new processes and materials/equipment, implement plans, and develop preventive actions
* Alertness, initiative, memory for verbal and written directions and details, analytical ability
* Ability to plan and make decisions often without instruction or supervision
* Proficient computer skills, internet research, and the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs or equivalent and email.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
* Candidates require proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and basic bioinformatics tools; technical writing; method development, optimization, and validation. Experience analyzing Sanger or whole genome sequencing data. Laboratory experience and knowledge gained outside of degree requirements is preferred.
* Master of Science degree in Biology/Microbiology/Molecular Biology preferred.
Physical Demands
* Handling of hazardous materials, biological contaminants, and controlled substances; strong pungent odors; handling animal, environmental, and plant specimens.
Work Hours
* Will be required to respond on weekends, holidays and after hours for weekend duty, seasonal overload and emergencies.
