KERA company history timeline

1960

KERA TV went on the air in September 1960.

1974

KERA FM went on the air in July 1974 as the first full-time public radio station for North Texas.

2008

Since its launch in 2008, KERA's Art&Seek has been a unique window into the arts, offering award-winning journalism on air and online at artandseek.org.

2009

Launched in 2009, KXT’s average weekly audience of 300,000 listeners ranks among the top-10 most-listened-to Triple-A public radio stations in the country.

2017

KERA received a station-record 41 awards in 2017, including its first-ever national Edward R. Murrow Award.

2018

And in May 2018, the Education Writers Association named KERA education reporter Bill Zeeble the best broadcast beat reporter in the nation.
