Battelle's Life Science Research is seeking a full-time technician to work in Pathology to perform necropsy procedures on small and large animal, to trim tissues for histopathology process and generate data for various types of studies. This position is Monday through Friday and will require overtime at nights, weekends and to be on call; schedule also includes holidays. Responsibilities TECHNICAL: The primary role is to perform necropsy examinations of small and large laboratory animals; to include gross necropsy, tissue collection, fixation, and labeling of specimens. Work with highly hazardous biological/toxic materials in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories. A Cath Lab Technician (also known as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technician) is a specialized healthcare professional who works alongside cardiologists, radiologists, and other medical staff to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab). These procedures are primarily focused on diagnosing and treating heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and structural heart problems. Cath Lab Technicians are responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with catheter-based procedures, and ensuring patient safety during these complex procedures. Key Responsibilities: Pre-Procedure Preparation: Prepare the cath lab environment for procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up (e.g., catheters, guidewires, contrast agents, X-ray machines). Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms, before the procedure begins. Assist in the preparation of patients, including setting up the monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning for optimal procedure results. Assist in transferring the patient from the procedure table to recovery, ensuring comfort and safety during transport. Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and the insertion site for any signs of complications, particularly bleeding or hematoma formation. Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families, including advice on post-operative care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments. Equipment Management and Maintenance: Maintain, clean, and sterilize the cath lab equipment and instruments, ensuring they are functioning properly and ready for the next procedure. Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery, including X-ray equipment, electrocardiograms (EKG), defibrillators, and patient monitors.
