A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit. This includes the processing of patient records and ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. The HUC NA serves as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record. The HUC NA is responsible for maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability of the delegated tasks.
