Key Technology company history timeline

1948

The company was founded in 1948 as Key Equipment Company by brothers Claude and Lloyd Key and eight other investors focused on eliminating tedious, inefficient manual chores in food processing.

1957

1957: SpaceflightThe Soviet Union surprised the world on October 4, when it launched the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, a small 83.6-kg (184.3-pound) metal sphere.

1977

The first such personal computer was the Altair, which was soon supplanted in 1977 by the Apple II, the TRS-80, and the Commodore PET.

1987

In 1987, they invented the Iso-Flo® line of vibratory conveyors, which is the industry standard today.

1998

Since 1998, Key Tech has been transforming complex technologies into intuitive products.

2000

Ben has been with Key Tech since 2000.

2004

Jake is a Partner and Senior Electrical Engineer who has been at Key Tech since 2004.

Lei has been in the embedded hardware field since 2004, focusing on firmware design and development.

2007

Alex has been with Key Tech since 2007 and has developed a broad range of products from auto-injectors, to neonatal transport systems, to complex in vitro diagnostic devices.

2010

Chris joined Key Tech in 2010, and has been architecting firmware ever since.

2011

Jeff joined Key Tech in 2011 and since then has led the design of several embedded electronics systems for medical and industrial devices, including an ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, a pharmaceutical compounder, and a water quality testing system.

2012

TCP/IP became the basis for how data is transmitted over the Internet.2012: CRISPRAmerican biochemist Jennifer Doudna and French microbiologist Emmanuelle Charpentier developed CRISPR-Cas9, a method for editing genes—that is, making changes to DNA sequences.

Weighing in at 5’ 8”, 160lbs, Chet joined the Key Tech team in 2012 as an Industrial Designer and has since helped to shape numerous projects to better serve their users and use environments.

2013

Since joining Key Tech in 2013 after graduating from the University of Maryland, Melanie earned her stripes by designing mechanical user interfaces, microfluidic disposables, and electro-mechanical devices for medical, industrial, and consumer markets.

2015

In 2015, Key disrupted things again with their advanced VERYX® family of digital sorters.

Key manufactures its products at its headquarters in Walla Walla, Washington, USA; Beusichem, the Netherlands; Hasselt, Belgium; and Redmond, Oregon, USA. Key’s domestic facilities are certified to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

2017

2017: Artificial intelligenceThe team behind the AlphaGo artificial intelligence program announced that it had become the world’s best go player.

2018

Ode joined the Key Tech team as a pawduct developer in 2018, and has gained special skills in ball dynamics, treat technology, micropoo-idics, and nap time.

2019

Our last winner was Brad Jenkins from San Francisco , who won a Samsung KU6179 Ultra HD TV on 14.05.2019 with his 5-billionth Search.
