Treats patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, local, laws, regulations and standards and in accordance with Suburban EMS policies, rules, and guidelines. Rescues and extricates victims of accidents, sudden illness or entrapment using proper rescue and medical techniques. Communicates effectively with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center. Maintains order at the scene in a professional manner to ensure patient care. Completes patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion, as required by federal, state, local, and Suburban EMS policy, rules, and guidelines. Adheres to and follows all applicable policies and procedures concerning safety, contamination, and prevention of contamination by blood borne pathogens. Educates and trains personnel, EMS trainees, and the public. Promptly responds to instructions from a dispatcher. Drives and operates specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations at a safe and controlled speed, in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations and standards; and in accordance with Suburban EMS policies, rules, and guidelines.     Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE: The Dialysis Patient Care Technician / Administrative Assistant will be a blended role that is well suited for applicants with administrative experience that would like to grow into a dialysis tech role or one with Dialysis experience that would like to work more of the "front" of a dialysis center.PRIMARY DUTIES / ACTIVITIES: Float to regional DCC clinic facilities in the regional areas. Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, etc.) and patient condition, and document observations appropriately. Take fluid samples or other specimens for testing and prepare for shipping. Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatment, i.e. hemodialysis therapy. Monitor and document status of patient and instruct patient in vascular accesses etc., under the direction of RN. Review lab work, physician orders and reinforce treatment care with patient. Enter appropriate ICD-9 codes for lab draws into the computer. Perform basis nursing procedures (e.g. changing bandages). Ensure patients have adequate patient care supplies, monitor and maintain inventories. Prepare the dialysis equipment before treatment and care for the equipment after treatment. Complete flow sheets (via EMR) to verify patient billing. Comply with company policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other governing agencies). Participate in quality assurance and cost containment programs. Other duties, as assigned.
