To learn more about our programs and our team, visit ********************** What We're Looking For As a key member of our People & Culture Team, the HR & Talent Development Manager will lead efforts to build and sustain a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. This role blends HR generalist duties with talent development strategy-owning onboarding, compliance, training, performance management, and staff appreciation for a vibrant and diverse team of seasonal, part-time, and full-time employees. This role is based in New York City and requires the ability to travel to different program sites (recess, after school, summer camp) in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens via public transportation. The HR & Talent Development Manager should expect to travel 2-4 times per month to lead in-person training, conduct observations, and meet with coaches at their program site. The key functions of your role will include: HR Generalist & Compliance Oversight Manage end-to-end HR functions, including employee onboarding, orientation, offboarding, WOTC and Youth Jobs filings, and SACC (School Aged Child Care) compliance documentation and training, NYC Department of Education fingerprinting, and NYC Department of Health compliance tracking. Ensure HR policies, procedures, and employee documentation are up to date and in compliance with labor laws; update the Employee Handbooks and Safety Manuals annually for signature. Support employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance improvement plans; lead performance discussion meetings with part-time and full-time staff in collaboration with their direct manager; oversee the administration of performance discussion forms. Partner with managers to implement progressive discipline and employee coaching strategies, as well as create performance and development goals. Assist in benefits administration, payroll coordination, Worker's Compensation, disability benefits, and leave management (Prenatal Leave, Paid Family Leave, Family Medical Leave, etc.). Training & Professional Development Design and facilitate training programs for full-time staff, part-time employees, and interns. Maintain and enhance orientation and training platforms (e.g., TalentLMS), ensuring content is engaging and accessible; track training completion and support team members in meeting their training goals. Develop leadership development programs and career growth pathways for seasonal, part-time, and full-time staff in collaboration with the Chief People Officer. Organize workshops focused on DEI, compliance, coaching, and employee development. Conduct training needs assessments (surveys, observations, 1:1 check-ins) and recommend learning initiatives based on qualitative and quantitative data and feedback. Performance Management & Employee Experience Lead the semi-annual performance review process for all seasonal, part-time, and full-time staff, and support managers in providing effective feedback. Develop coaching strategies and workshops to improve employee performance and engagement. Analyze performance data to identify trends and implement retention strategies. Partner with managers to provide structured growth opportunities for employees, including stretch assignments, job shadowing, and cross-training initiatives for part-time and full-time staff. Staff Appreciation & Recognition Oversee recognition programs such as Coach of the Month, Quarterly Attendance Gifts, anniversaries, birthdays, and milestone celebrations. Develop and implement appreciation initiatives to foster a culture of recognition and belonging, including raffles, care packages, gift cards, and annual gifts. Plan and execute employee engagement events (e.g. sporting events, bowling night, painting or rock-climbing class) and staff appreciation activities, such as the end-of-year awards night and the company annual retreat. Collaborate with leadership to reinforce core company values through recognition efforts. ABOUT THE MARKETING INTERNSHIP The Marketing Intern will play a role in assisting our Marketing & Development Team to communicate with our families, schools, partners, and team members. Summer Camp Expectations: Full time in-person camp leadership support for a camp with 60+ campers and 20+ staff members June 14 - August 22, 2025 Includes pre-camp training & 8 weeks of camp Monday - Friday (7:30a - 5:00p) Supporting at least one day per week of aftercare until 5:30pm Locations Available: Inwood - 532 W 215th St, New York, NY 10034 Riverdale - 452 W 260th St, The Bronx, NY 10471 Upper West Side - 147 W 70th St, NY, NY 10023 Upper East Side - 4 E 90th St, NY, NY 10128 Yorkville - 540 East 76th Street, New York, NY 10021 East Village - 44 E 2nd St, NY, NY 10003 Park Slope - 588 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11215 Greenpoint - 100 Dobbin St, Brooklyn, NY 11222 West Village - 272 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014 Fort Greene - 39 Adelphi St, Brooklyn, NY 11205 Compensation Range: This is a part-time, seasonal position based in New York City. Assistant Directors must be available to work part time from Late April - June (range of 8-15+ hours per week) to complete pre-summer work expectations. Assistant Directors must be available to work full time from late June to the end of August to oversee camp operations. Pre Summer Compensation: Monthly stipends ranging from $150-$450 per month Starting in April at $150 Monthly pre-summer stipends increase each month based on workload. Assistant Directors only receive the full pre summer stipend each month if they complete required milestone expectations Rates will be prorated depending on progress Total of around $800 to $900 pre-summer compensation depending on start date and the # of hours committed per week In addition you will receive a training bonus for May to June Pre summer training stipend: $355 $120 for virtual trainings and $180 for all 3 on site training days $55 for an in person field day in June Training attendance is mandatory You must complete all virtual and in-person trainings Missed sessions or absences will result in a prorate training payment Summer Compensation: Biweekly salary payments from July - August 2025 Riverdale, Inwood, UES Carnegie Hill, Yorkville, East Village, West Village, and Greenpoint will run for 8 weeks Park Slope, Fort Greene and UWS camp locations will run for 7 weeks Total salary range based on 8 weeks of summer camp: $800 to $900 per week 8 week camp salary range (without the training stipend) $6,400 to $7,200 Total salary range based on 7 weeks of summer camp: $800 to $900 per week 7 week camp salary range (without the training stipend) $5,600 to $6,300 Rates are based on camp enrollment (number of campers per week) and prior years of experience in similar roles and prior Assistant Director experience ** Additional end of Camp Bonuses will be distributed to camp teams based on camper enrollment and satisfaction ratings from registered families. Qualifications Job Requirements: Must have completed a physical exam and TB test within one year of the camp dates, pass NYS and national background checks, and be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. Possess at least 2 years of professional administration and operations experience - should include experience in youth program development and implementation; summer camp operation; recreational programming; staff supervision; work with youth/teens/families, and parent relations Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Prior experience as a supervisor for youth development after school and summer programs or as an educator in a public / private setting (2+ years) may also meet the requirement for consideration Commit to working part time / remotely during the school year to support camp planning efforts and commit to working eight weeks during the summer. Attend and help lead mandatory Core Trainings and all-staff team buildings, before and during the camp season. Be able to establish and maintain strong working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents, and caregivers. Communicate in a timely and professional fashion with parents, caregivers, kids and staff across organization-wide communication channels (Slack, Email, Text, Google Calendar, etc.) and be able to interpret and understand both written and oral instructions.
