Small Equipment Operators are responsible for operating equipment including, but not limited to, paper balers, bobcats, and forklifts to transport or bind paper or loose materials to facilitate handling as well as load or unload materials into trailers and/or railcars. The Sustainability & Diversion Specialist is responsible for prospecting, qualifying, and winning new commercial/industrial recycling business. They must also retain and increase penetration of current customer business, with a focus on developing total solution packages. The S&D Specialist is held accountable to producing profitable business consistently, with an emphasis on building long term partnerships in their designated Region. The Recycling Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production of quantity and quality while supporting the Company's policies, goals, and objectives. This position oversees all levels of preventative maintenance in a multi-shift Recycling Operation. The Recycling Maintenance Manager is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of the industrial maintenance department, resources, and employees to ensure company strategic initiatives are consistently met. Responsibilities of Position: Manage industrial maintenance operations safely and enforce all safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies Oversee all maintenance-related duties including, but not limited to, fabrication and repair of conveyor systems, repairs to industrial balers, disc screen systems, and other plant production equipment Oversee all maintenance-related duties for buildings and facilities Manage all aspects of inventory control including PM schedules, hot work permits, and ordering of supplies and equipment, spare parts, maintenance supplies, etc. Manage spending against budget in relation to changes in production volumes Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the recycling processing industry, with emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventative maintenance/predictive maintenance to ensure a minimum of 95% uptime on all plant processing equipment Maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians, operations, and service contractors to ensure good two-way communication and resolution of maintenance issues Initiate and complete projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc. Implement programs and procedures required to ensure shop compliance related to housekeeping and cleanliness Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: This position will manage 6-10 employees This position will not oversee and direct other managers Skills & Abilities Needed for Position: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong planning and organizational skills Ability to clearly articulate the pros and cons of various technologies and platforms Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to perform a detailed analysis of business problems and technical environments and use this in designing the solution Ability to estimate the financial impact of individual solution architecture alternatives Ability to provide accurate estimates for tasks and project activity Ability to work independently, prioritize own tasks, and tasks of others Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position: 5+ years of successful experience in a management required Knowledge of the recycling industry preferred Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday: Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions Frequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling Occasionally climbing and/or balancing Occasionally sitting Frequently standing/walking Additional Working Conditions/Aspects: Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas Exposure to residential and commercial waste Ability to travel between offices, as required Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls Legally eligible to work in the United States Valid driver's license (if applicable) Must successfully complete pre-employment testing Must be able to read and speak the English language This job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
